Hey guys,

Just finished a new build and I have 2 SSD SATA, 1 HDD SATA and a m.2 SSD. My issue is the computer is not recognising the m.2 just the other 3. If I go into the BIOS and go to advanced - and change to SATA mode config to M.2 it just wont boot up and kicks me back to BIOS where the m.2 now shows but one of the other SATA SSD is missing?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Apologies, motherboard is ASUS Z170-A, and I want to use the M.2 as additional storage rather than the OS storage device so windows is already installed on one of the other SSDs

I would be interested in an answer to this as I have an unused (non OS) m2 slot I could usefully use.

Sounds like you have the OS drive plugged into a shared port. Motherboards often share a SATA port's data lanes with the M.2 port. Try connecting the OS SATA connection into a different port or have a look in the manual.

Absolutely this - caught me out first time I used M.2!
