Eric Bristow

Like I said, the problem in the 70s was still with the older generation and not ours but of course you'll always get the exception and Bristow was probably one.

This is my point though, there was still a general problem then (and to an extent still is). Bristow will have been a product of his environment. That doesn't tarnish everyone of a certain generation though.

So you agree that diamount's comment was a little out of order using that age group where he looked like he was tarring everybody with the same brush?
That's my point.

That's my point.

But he didn't tar all 59 year olds - diamount gave a list of things (59 man, quite conservative, implied he's homophoic in private). So unless you're all of those, you don't qualify!

I'm not discussing this anymore.
I'm proud I came through a time where I hung around with gays, ate with gays, played in bands with gays, dressed gay (and some people still think I'm gay) but I didn't have gay sex (yet).
Most of my mates of the same age were also like me so we weren't a product of that age group however Bristow probably mixed with the wrong sorts or was influenced by his dad.

That's the end of it.

And that's how society is different now, I did all this growing up (except the band :p ) and I'm not particularly proud as it's just a normal everyday thing.

Anyway, you have a more annoying poster to deal with.

Said like a true homophobe

WUT!

Well I apologize if that is not your mindset but casually dropping statements like 'girly boys' & 'brainwashed into thinking that type of thing was OK' when commenting about peoples sexuality is going to make people wonder what your true opinion actually is.

As for Eric Bristow, the blokes an idiot and I'm glad he got sacked! One less stupid bigot on TV is fine in my books :-)

Based on what I've read of what he said: Simply put Bristow is a girly boy twonk, and I'd say that to his face, if a fight ensued so be it.

Shame as he was the darts god of my youth.

What SGF is saying is homophobia has been around for donkeys years and was instilled in the early 1900's.

Eric Bisto kid, I do hate the **** no matter what about his comment.

But his generation and his parents taught him to hate blacks, gays, none Christians and the strange.

Its not his fault it was something that was inherent in the 19th century that was instilled into 20th century beliefs.

All animals are animals we just clever ones with values and respect. So they say!

I hate pedos with a passion, I like loads of sex and kinky stuff but kids, just nope on so many levels.

My friend was abused as a child by his uncle, its sick as hell and men seem to be the main culprits.

All though I have a sneaky feeling women are the same its just well you know, who would not knock back a 30 year old come on at 14. :D

But when I was about 9-10 well, lets just start a? Me and the baby sitters thread. :p

Word are not derogatory, attitudes are. If a big raving homo said "I'm a poof and I love it" would you think he was being derogatory about himself? Of course not.

Meh, semantics. Context aside the word carries derogatory connotations connected to its historical usage, the fact that there are a limited number of contexts where the word isn't derogatory doesn't stop it being generally derogatory.

Strictly speaking, context should be considered before making the comment that a word or phrase has been used in a negative manner but denying the fact that there are words which are, generally speaking, derogatory is just pedantic and detracts from the issue at hand.

If someone doesnt like gay people, I dont see an issue.

Whats the big deal?

Gay people are a tiny minority, most normal people are straight.

Its called freedom of thought, and if that is so offensive to the softies, then they are directly hypocritical, as its clearly only tolerance when you agree with their "special" views.

I dont really like gay people, but Im happy they are free to do what they wish, its no problem, I dont mind. This doesnt make me a Nazi or homophobe.

Just as I dont really like Gangster Inner city wannabe thugs, its a class of person I do not really care for, I cannot fathom what the issue with this could possibly be.

This guy used a slang term on Twitter, life goes on, how is it even in the news ?!?

The world is a stupid stupid place.

You do know that all humans are conceived as women and in reality over 80% of humans are bisexual if not more!

You choose the path.

Its just human/animal nature, live with it and deal with it. ;)
