None the wiser here.

I am finishing work for the month next week hopefully Thursday and am getting right on this VPN stuff.

I recently hacked my firestick to run kodi so that needs VPN'ing.

Am already blocked out of the best torrent sites so need to sort it ASAP.

Anyone know of a way to download torrents through VPN or will that happen automatically when I set up the VPN network.

I currently use uTorrent if that's any help.

Nordvpn hsd tutorials for running torrent though them.

But you csn just use a socks5 proxy instead of a von. (Or both for extra security but less speed and if the vpn disconnects the lroxy will still hide your ip

But yeah once the vpn tunnel is open torrents will go through it

I've just had a look - NordVPN provides a SOCKS5 proxy as well as a VPN. Looks like it's time to put my socks on :)

I don't use torrents and my net use is really rather boring and anyone examining it would probably nod off. I wouldn't much mind GCHQ, MI5 and the rest of the alphabet agencies looking at it. But this law is authoritarianism for the sake of it and it reduces my security as well as removing my privacy, so I'm going to evade it as much as possible. I've a day off tomorrow, so I'll evaluate VPNs. Or maybe I'll just take the easy option and use NordVPN because they're the best known one.

Try Torguard and look for Torguard promo's, sometimes you can knock the cost right off with high privacy for just £7+ a month.

I was originally on another VPN, forgot the name now began with I and it was pants, people were getting letters regarding torrent use :p

anything tbh, we dont know how long VPN will last until the gov starts to do something

ofc! but as i said before its shady that VPN is only choice we have.. and what happens if they start doing something towards people using VPN?:rolleyes:

VPNs are used by a lot of businesses to protect commercially sensitive information. I don't think the government can outlaw VPNs without risking a big dent to the economy.

I can't see VPNs getting outlawed. They'e not even outlawed in China. I have a UK VPN configured on each of my devices, which up until now I've mainly used when I've been passing through China.

Had an interesting conversation yesterday with my brother about this - part of his job is basically operating as an ISP and some of what is coming down the line to him in context of this is a complete shambles - can't really elaborate without potentially getting him into trouble.

Anonymous confessions thread :D.

Obviously not much substantial at this stage but one thing I can sort of mention is that one of the things hes been pushing back about is the use of wide blacklist type functionality in places where it should be whitelist only.

If half of what he says is true/turns out as he suspects a good chance of some spectacular fallout sooner rather than later due to the clash of technical realities and people who are in a position of power but lacking in technical understanding.

EDIT: As much as I want to see things fallout spectacularly this also has some severe implications for the protection of minors which I've not really seen talked about in the context of this bill, etc. and could really do some damage to some young people.
