*** Nintendo Switch ***

I hope they do, but also add multiplayer elements to games that historically were only single player.

It will need something like that. The problem with the Wii and WiiU was, despite a handful of excellent games, a teeny, teeny, tiny library of quality.

The Switch and Dock looked smaller than I had expected after seeing the promo, seemed to get a better sense of the scale watching the demo on The Tonight Show.

App store not Play store. :P

The way I understood it, the demo was just going to be available in physical Apple retail stores, not on the App Store.

Jimmy falon clip did so much more for this unit that the reveal trailer did imo.

People will look out for it following this i bet. Plain and simple, play on the screen or pick it up and play on the device, and you can take that anywhere! Done!

No need for cool dude bros cramming round a table to awkwardly play a multipayer game in a car park or whatever :D

No one knows 100% yet, but from that video the screen looks good. OLED would be very very nice, but possibly too expensive for a screen that size.

Oddly my biggest interest is in what OS the system is built on.

I'm not sure I want to shell out for a games tablet at this point, but some compatibility with an existing system/apps might change my view on it.

Is it not just a Nvidia Shield 2 by another name?

Looks good but still doubful.

Generally if I'm playing a game and have to go somewhere, I'm going cause I need to do something else than play a game.

If I'm on the train I'm usually catching up on some websites / twitter etc, not playing fully fledged console games.

I've got the ability to do very similar with my Vita (albeit indoors with remote play) and that very rarely gets used as trying to play a game designed for a much larger screen never quite works.

I'm hoping for homebrew support, if this turns out to be able to run Gamecube / Wii games, I'm in. Could be a dream come true for people who want a retro handheld system.

They cracked the Wii U to play Gamecube games didn't they?

Yep!

Been away for a week so have been reading the updates. Great to see another exclusive announced/leaked. Will watch the Jimmy Fallon video later on.

Am so hyped for this console :)

Nintendo and an OLED screen, genuinely got a laugh out of me.

Nintendo actually shock me with how bad the screens are on their devices, considering the screens on budget tablets and phones.

Very doubtful, this thing will be locked down.

Homebrew is not an official supported feature, technically speaking none of Nintendo's hardware supports homebrew. It's the userbase that creates homebrew and that depends on how terrible Nintendo's security on their console is. It's particularly bad on the 3DS, which is why they're panicking with that new policy.

They sure do try to lock it down, but as I read in one article, you can't keep people out forever. The goal is to keep out unwanted business for the majority of the console's lifecycle, which they've succeeded on the WiiU but failed on the 3DS.

I remember the whole fuss about the screen lottery on new 3DS models. The initial batches came out with superior IPS screens, but then Nintendo did the ole' switcheroo and put TN screens on the later batches. As you can imagine... people were not happy and folks looking to buy new 3DSes were specifically searching for earlier batch numbers so they could get the better screens (among other things...).

There is no particular OS they use, Nintendo always use their own custom OS made new for each console. So everything will have to be newly made for it... no backwards compatibility or anything of the sort here I'm afraid.

Watched the Jimmy Fallon video. Nintendo is back! And is here to do some damage!

PS4 Pro....yeah we have that. Project Scorpio...yeah thats coming. Not everyone needs or wants 4K. But every is on the mobile gaming bandwagon now, Pokemon Go has proved that.

Its 2016 and everyone has a mobile device. Nintendo can take over massive with the Switch, all the need to do is play their cards right. Microsoft and Sony will be red faced chasing the more power and better graphics race. But Nintendo is in its own league and can be back on top again like in the 90's.

Haha, Nintendo will be in their own league, but let's be honest, it won't be the premier league :p but it does have the potential to be extremely better than the wii u. While it won't be a direct competitor to the other consoles, it will hopefully have a place next to them. I for one can't wait!
