Did Pewdiepie delete his youtube account? !! !

Kids getting motivated to make as much money from so little work with the minimum of talent.

"What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor, scientist?". "No, I wanna be a Youtube celeb".

The world is upside down.

I cannot remember if I was watching something or reading something a few weeks ago about that. How so many once clamoured over film star celebrities, now it is Youtube celebrities.

I was also quite shocked how so many young ones now do not care about big film stars. After all, we live in a world where the Kardashians are role models for women.

It is quite amazing that with all the potential revenue, youtube still cannot utilised to create a professional "serious" range of channels earning millions - you know - YT should be full of standups doing their (local in terms of country) Daily Show With Jon Stewart like commentary/satire, minor press/young journalists doing Q&A with politicians and small labels/promotors doing weekly sessions/festivals with pre-major-label bands. And yet, it doesn't happen. It's seems the only people willing to succeed with it and get hundreds of millions of views are always some exhibitionist drama queen with Munhausen syndrome, some gamer nerd or some American Idol drop out belching out cover of the month in her basement while wearing sports bra.

There's a huge range on Youtube, including professionally produced and/or serious channels. They don't get hundreds of millions of views. They rarely get millions of views. Drama queens, gamer nerds, underdressed women, people getting hurt and clickbait lists of "facts" that might or might not have any truth in them is what the mass market wants.

The serious stuff doesn't have to be professional produced, either. For example, the person who does the Historia Civilis channel uses very basic images, text and voiceover and that's it. In the early videos it sounds like they used a £1 shop toy microphone and spoke with a sponge over their face...and it was still worth listening to because of the content.

There all sorts on Youtube.

I love it when Boogie does his Frances alter ego and has a meltdown :D

His weight issues are a sad story though.

One of Boogies videos came up as a recommendation about a year ago and I never seen this guy before and I didn't realise he was a acting/saying a character. I don't remember the details of what the video was about but he was yelling at this woman for no reason and acting spoiled and selfish, by the end of it I just wanted to punch the guy in the face. With his weight he really ought to consider getting his stomach stapled otherwise it's heart disease and diabetes can oy be just around the corner for him.

The best YouTube gamer/reviewer imo is AngryJoe, never got or understood Pewdiepie popularity then again I'm not his target audience.

Angryjoe is ace. His vids are dripping in enough cheese to stock the states for a month but that's the charm of them. His reviews are generally spot on too.

So what you saying, we now live in a trashy society?

Kids love this kind of thing. I went through a short period a few years ago where I'd watch some gamers messing about and having fun but then I figured I could also make money doing it so launched my own Youtube channel which earned about 30p and that was the end of it :D

THREE years ago already!

Yes. That's me. Have at it :D

I watched all of that and enjoyed it :) You have a SA/English accent thing going on because you probably went to Hogwarts

Content-wise: few naughties in there, some booze stumblings over some words but very watchable, mostly engaging, stupid hats gets minus 10 points.

I give you a solid 6 and a half, maybe even a seven.

HA! The hats were a thing. I started my first vlog with a hat on and the second one had a different hat, and it grew from there. The accent is saffer but I've lost it a bit as I lived in Amsterdam for 8 years before moving here 10 years ago. You should hear me talking to other saffers though, that's full on HOWZIT BRU.

Sounds like amazing 'entertainment'

Or I guess for what pass as 'entertainment' in 2016.

It's almost as if people have different tastes. 50m watch his videos and like them, you don't, that means you are the one with the problem.

I don't watch him but the amount of disdain towards Youtubers who are really popular is pretty sad. The medium has changed but it is no different to liking a character on a TV show except that character now has their own exclusive TV show.

Can you explain the bold?

Big companies throw money at Youtube to get their videos pushed into the trending/popular section even though they have barely any views. That section used to be for the most popular and viral videos and videos that used to normally show up in that section are now no longer showing up which means lots of people are starting to lose viewers and money.

Out of interest what sort of stats did you have for that income with YT. Would be interested and also point to the boy here some real stats about how hard it is against the potential income. Not that I wan him not to do it but I'm not sure if he thinks money grows on tree's

Erm ... no, it doesn't mean that anyone has a problem just because they don't find his videos entertaining. It's as per your first sentence, people like different things ... just because you don't like something it is not a "problem".

You should stream on twitch, if you have a motormouth and a propensity for wearing stupid hats thats 90% of a successful channel right there

There's a difference between not liking it and taking the **** out of people who might watch it by putting things in quotes.

I personally don't watch him but I do watch Youtube and Twitch more than actual TV over past few years and it's annoying seeing people saying it's easy to do or not a real job.

Just watched pewdiepie's latest video and he doesn't mention your first sentence or perhaps he is holding back. I can't link because it uses the F word a lot. Very interesting though.

H3H3 Productions has made a few videos about it. NFL videos with very little views/likes for example have appeared there and the only way they could is if Youtube promoted it themselves and there is no incentive for them to do it for free.
