another brilliant episode, only one more episode left though :( wish there was more decent documentaries out there.

would aslo be nice if there was an accompanying documentary that pics a couple of the more bizarre creatures and do like autopsies and more in depth science of the evolution and how its adapted, its history etc.
I can see why they don't though, there's always uproar, even when the animals have died of natural causes.
 
I've just catched up with this show,just finished the "Jungles" episode.. And wow, it is a really stunning show. Beautiful photography and scenes, and I just love David Attenboroughs voice in documentaries like this. It fits perfectly, soothing, calm.. Just brilliant

My wife works in a zoo. On the day that particular litter was born, the mother went for a swim, the pups(?) followed her and one got stuck in the mud. It was found a day later and by this time, the mother had abandoned it.

Choice was to either let it die or hand rear it for a few weeks. Had to be fed every 3 hours for the first 6 weeks or so of it's life. So 3 of the keepers took it in turns to take it home to look after it.

Yes, it would make a terrible 'pet'.

It went on to live with another capybara at the zoo :)
 
Not sure how that points out why it would make a terrible pet though. Feeding animals night and day when young is fairly common. :p

Same here, it was stunning!

I'd say the first and last episodes stood head and shoulders above the rest of the series. The leopard hunting, peregrine falcon and temple rhesus monkeys were highlights for me.

One thing I'm always wary about is "do you interfere" as a human if you have the ability to? So in the case of those turtles would (or do) the camera crew 'rescue' as many as they can from the drains/litter etc or do nothing? It'd be a tough question as they shouldn't interfere with the "nature" part when they were being eaten by the crabs but once in the town it then becomes a human issue rather than a nature issue so I don't know what the protocol would be.
