WTF is wrong with people, a couple of highly trained police firearms officers, who are there of the safety of the general public decide to be all friendly and approachable, happy to pose for photos with kids, smiling etc... and people complain about it?

While I'm sure some would rather they weren't there at all there is a rather genuine threat of terror attacks against civilians in the current climate so that isn't realistic. Given that they are there I'm rather glad they are friendly and approachable as you'd expect British police officers to be. I mean what do people want them to do - stand around looking menacing and not interact with people???

I sincerely hope that the police don't change anything based on the 'backlash' in some quarters to this.

It almost seems like the people complaining are a fringe minority like the ones complaining about the complainers?

I don't think anyone is complaining about the complainers. Though those disagreeing with them wouldn't likely be in a 'fringe minority'.

There really is no logical reason to debate this. Everyone is going to agree with you on why it's a stupid thing to complain about. Just a complete non-story, they will soon forget and complain what their friend share with them next.

David Rooke added: “This is wrong very very wrong.”

And David Rooke is a ****. Don't get what the issue is. The public will cry out and be up in arms when a terrorist attack happens 'where are the police, where are the army to protect us'
Yet still cry and complain when protection forces are deployed. Knobheads gonna knobhead I guess.

It'll introduce the children to the real world we live in today, but I don't think that's a good thing for children as yound as that - we can all imagine how that conversation goes I suppose.

Those coppers wouldn't have done that unless they had permission or were told to do it.

The next generations will certainly see guns on an increasingly regular basis, I guess exposure at a young age is beneficial to some.

I don't have kids myself but would hate to bring children up in this day and age.

It's just another symptom of how we're living and how it's working these days.

Children see these police with guns they think guns are cool. Children buy guns and get into trouble.

Seriously does no one else see this obvious issue with having armed police on the streets!

People will complain about anything. I can't even make out what their problem is? They don't want armed police? I'm sure they would be the first to be outraged if there was an attack and hundreds died as there was no one to protect them.

We're becoming more like America all the time, is this a good thing or is it a bad thing?

Cant say I'm over keen on this type of thing myself, Its hardly festive seasonal stuff, but I'm an old school old fart, don't be to hard on me guys, its just my opinion.

Totally asinine to say the least....

Those guys will be the ones you hope to see when something happens. I don't care at all about police presence armed or not.

And people getting annoyed at them posing with kids? So what.

And yet the dicks in power seem to listen to that idiot fringe minority whilst at the same time ignoring the sane majority. As can be seen in the banning of anything that one minority decides that they don't like or don't agree with.

Recent case in point, the cretinous vegetarians/vegans who cried and threw a hissy fit over the new £5 note.
