Truck crashes into Christmas market in Berlin

Please tell me what the issue is. As no information has actually been released. Unless you're calling for restrictions on truck driving?

I think it was more a commentary on how on Overclockers the usual reaction is not one of sadness, or tragedy, but rather to blame a certain group and push agenda's, regardless of information.

So discussing the possibilities of the causes of the action is also not allowed?

Just want to clarify.

They need to fit some sort of barriers in the ground that can be raised during gatherings like this. I know it won't stop bombings or shootings but getting a truck and driving it into crowds is too easy.

I am very surprised after the Nice tragedy this is not standard practice now lets be honest here this has been brewing for a long time in Germany ever since it kicked off a few months back.

It was writing on the wall there was going to be an attack at Xmas somewhere this year unfortunately :(

I have a couple of German friends who were at the market. One of them texted just now to say that they're ok. Thanks goodness.

Condolences to the dead and their families though.

As for religious terrorism, this is the reason why candidates like Trump is getting voted in, shifting the world to the right wing. Next thing we'll know is that National Front (France) and Alternative for Germany will get voted in next year :(

Crack down on religious nutters (mostly right-wing people), crack down on the PC hard left as well, and hopefully we'll end up with a liberal-centre world in about 1000 years time!

I had a one-tweet rant on Twitter on a similar note about the hashtag #PrayForBerlin. What the **** is praying going to do? We #PrayedForNice, we #PrayedForParis, yet here we are again.

Maybe those who will have lost loved ones will take some solace in the fact that those with no reason to offer a signal of support do so. Maybe it's something that people can do to try and show support for those that have lost someone. Maybe just maybe it might help someone suffering right now. But I'm sure your moaning on an internet forum will achieve much much more.

I'm expecting a #PrayForLondon any day now. For all the good it will do.

Walking around Oxford Street this time of year is seriously worrying. The sheer numbers of people, if anybody was able to attack around there the numbers of casualties would be horrendous

Say great thanks to bush and blair....

Saddam had actually believed 9/11 would bring Iraq and America closer because Washington would need his secular government to help fight fundamentalism. How woefully wrong he had been.

During our talks, we often heard muffled explosions. Saddam inferred things were not going well for the US forces and took pleasure in the fact. ‘You are going to fail,’ he said. ‘You are going to find that it is not so easy to govern Iraq.’ History has proved him right. But back then, I was curious why he felt that way.

‘Because you do not know the language, the history, and the Arab mind,’ he said. ‘It’s hard to know the Iraqi people without knowing its weather and its history. The difference is between night and day and winter and summer. That’s why they say the Iraqis are hard-headed – because of the summer heat.’

He chuckled and added: ‘Next summer, when it is hot, they might revolt against you. The summer of 1958 got a little hot. In the 1960s, when it was hot, we had a revolution. You might tell that to President Bush!’

That is GD though. You know it.
If you want sensible debate go into speakers corner.

No it's the opposite really. Apparently there are some sacred cows that are immune to criticism.

What I would like is a forum to discuss things openly, where people don't get offended on other peoples behalves (or get offended at all actually, it means nothing) and where nothing is immune to criticism. Sticking your head in the sand and beckoning people to do nothing is the opposite of good discussion.

What would you have? This whole thread full of "RIP", "OMG so sad", "I'm gonna put a filter over my facebook photo".

It's what I'd like too, but it wont happen. Criticism of Islam is just not allowed any more.

What I'd like is people to stick to facts rather than jumping to conclusion. And to show some respect.

And no I'm not an apologist as some suggest, whoever is responsible for such an act should be strung up. But instantly blaming a group of people based on no facts is irresponsible.

Better people sharing their condolences than supporting the ISIS terrorists by blaming Muslims or refugees.
