Alexander Blackman

You can replace his words about breaking the Geneva convention with 'I just murdered him' as that is what he is admitting to at the point. From the information we have I don't get how anyone can say he doesn't deserve the sentance he has been given.

I don't how bail works but based on there is a recording of him admitting his guilt why should he be granted bail to build a defence to appeal.

All the apologists saying that he should be locked up, deserves it etc etc, the biggest fight they have ever had is probably a womens Karoke sing off.

When you are in the heat of battle, and literally EVERYONE wants or is trying to kill you, then you are going to feel differently.

Also, the anger and faux leftist outrage should be directed at the Politicians that SENT them there, not the brave MEN who are following the stupid orders.

I hope he is set free soon, and justice is done. Sickening to see such scapegoating!

Lol you are on a roll aren't you??

Yes I'm sure justice will be done in the correct manner ie he is locked up for a long time due to his actions. Unless some other evidence comes to light that exonerates him but from what I understand of the case, it's pretty close and shut case.

No where in his orders was he told to exicute an unarmed man. In fact he explicitly knew he was DISobeying orders. He wasn't in danger, he wasn't worried about his, or others safety, he dragged a severely injured, unarmed man away from surveillance cameras, made a statement and then shot his at point blank range, before willfully acknowledging what he had done was illegal.

As I said before, this wasn't a minor infringement of the rules of engagement, this was a willful disobeyence of pretty much the entire ethos of western society. Premeditated murder is murder, whether it is in a London street or Afghanistan.

Whats next?

You wanna tickle people for information in Abu Graib?

Its a live combat situation of a them and us. Guaranteed if the guy could have killed our brave soldier, he would have. War is tough, all these armchair soldiers should stick to battles with their mother and tidy their rooms.

Do you support rape? Using the same logic.

The equivelant would be chopping off arms and legs... are you happy to go back to medieval torture?

You're still trying to portray this as a split second decision while bullets were firing. It just wasn't.

I'm sure 'roles reversed' the IS would have butchered the soldier.

But, the British Army is above these animals.

Anything less and you drop down to their level and the whole thing becomes a ****fest and you might aswell forget the rules and just randomly carpet bomb countries.

Guilty in this instance, by admission.

Because they have concrete examples of us doing it. They then use exactly the same argument you're using, but the other way round. Justifying their actions on the actions of ourselves.

We are supposed to be the good guys, so using the actions of the enemy to justify the same actions on our side is just not a reasonable argument to make.

If we hadn't prosecuted the guy they'd have no evidence. The video was released as a result of him being charged. So...we gave them the evidence. If we don't do that then they have no evidence!

'Our brave soldier'. That you Vera Lynn? Can't stand such emotive DM styled dross.

It was murder. I'm sure his defence has put forward all your stupid arguments and maybe even some with actual merit, none of it has made a difference.

Should he get bail for Christmas? No.

Ahh leafy Surrey, your opinion makes more sense now.

All these "brave" soldiers on both sides doing what's right wow it must get so confusing for god to choose which is doing his work

It's like reading the Mail, emotive nonsense followed by ad hominems. Great work.

Im just in disbelief that anyone could be so against OUR brave armed forces.

Who get paid poorly to PROTECT us in the event of something serious.

Lets hope those who are so dismissive of their incredible service are denied on the basis that perhaps a brave soldier read a post on OCUK and decided not to help :p :p

But seriously, people calling for military personell to be locked up should be locked up themselves. I will donate to his legal fund and get this guy home, where he belongs.

Why are military personnel above the law, that they shouldn't be prosecuted??

I don't think anyone is against the armed forces but rather than getting all emotive about it, have a hard look at the facts. He himself has admitted to killing this insurgent.

I'd rather our armed forces be above ISIS and not act like animals.
