Help choosing new car 1 series or Golf

My Polo GTi would smash the backside out of these 2 and I look much cooler because it's got a GTi on it and everyone knows GTi means fastest. Also 5300 over 2 years, so cheaper. Why keep up the Jone's when you can be like, well, a Kennedy or one of them Trumps?

Are those lease prices or a company car scheme? If there's a deposit on on top they are extremely expensive. I've currently got a GTD at 1800 + 23*240 and an R estate at 2400 + 23*212.

Oh and I completely disagree with what you said about grip. Before these I had 2 118d and a 320d and the grip is way better in the golfs add snow into the mix and the bmws can barely move.

That is loads to spend on either of these! My Golf (albeit the 1.6 dags) was £1k down and £150 a month 6 months ago!

Hunt around, better deals to be had (start here)

Lol with these comments about 180-200bhp cars having issues in snow which is why the country comes to grid lock with the tiniest bit of weather these aren't fast cars to have to worry about that kinda thing.nbut you can still crash at any speed I know that.

Though some people obviously think they are speed kings .

I have a 225d as a work car it's hardly a rocket ship and not going to kill my self going over a puddle of a tiny bit of snow.......

100% the golf. The BMW is a boggo 1.8d and not a great one at that. But for only 10k a year I'd be looking at a GTI instead :P

Both seem very expensive though.

When was the last time we had significant snow away from high grounds? 5 years ago?

I'm pretty sure the last time we had snow here was indeed 5 years ago. Still couldn't get the FWD Audi up our road though. :p

Not sure why you think speed or bhp affects this, if it ever does snow again you will find out just how bad they are at getting any traction, unless you put some serious weight in the boot. But yeah it's not a huge consideration for this country.

After a couple of sleeps decided against a 118d manual - my current Leon has 150bhp and manual so it would feel pretty much the same apart from been rwd

Will deffo test drive the golf gtd dsg this week though

Hopefully I can find a good PCP deal on a 6-12 old one

One day, when life is better and you've aged a bit, you too could have a Polo GTI. Of course a 118D is nice, but sometimes one needs to dream and aspire and it may happen.....if you're lucky......really lucky.
