To be fair i think you could be taking this slightly out of context, i would argue that a lot of people, particularly younger people would not know who Carrie Fisher is, Princess Leia from star wars however usually jogs everyones memory.
Truly tragic loss for us all.
It's more about having some empathy for someone's mother and partner dying. I don't see anyone say 'didn't know them' when a OCUK member reports on their loss. Regardless, there is no excuse to say 'don't know her' when Google exists.
I did google, I had heard the name but couldn't picture her, maybe shouldn't have commented. I never watched Star Wars also. Star Trek yes.

Not everyone in the world has seen Star Wars you know. My dad is 61 and he honestly was unsure who she was. When I mentioned her he actually got confused and thought she was in Star Trek at first...

Yeh a few of the younger ones at work have never seen Star Wars or intend to.
She is pretty famous, but that does not mean everyone is going to know who she is etc.

When was that since films took years to come to theatre back then. I can only assume 74 or 75? Maybe even 73? As it came out in 77.
I always find it unreal at times thinking about it as I wasn't even born when the first two films were in theatres. I was still too young to know any great deal about Return of the Jedi except all the cool action and explosions. That and I remember the cool older friends getting the huge toy Millenium Falcon for Christmas 88 and 89.

Anyone who knows me, willtell you how little I care for the cult of celebrities and the out pouring of grief that surrounds one every time one carks it. I was a meh when Michael Jackson died. Kicked myself for not having shares in interflora when princess Di passed. And normally I wouldn't bat an eyelid at another celeb passing, it's natural we all die at some point etc etc

gorgeous and she was insecure about her looks somehow.
I saw empire strikes back in the cinema, knew someone with the AT-AT and falcon models. He only got to play with them over holidays then back to boarding school.
I reckon revenge of the sith is the best in the series, yes seriously. I wonder which is the cast favourites really
