I'd flash that fake rom off asap. It could contain anything in it if it isn't the official rom. Malicious software etc.
So what now for Mi5 and other Xiaomi users if there is no more Cyanogenmod? What are the alternatives?
Posted on Xiaomi forum asking for best way for me to get rid of the fake rom on my mi5. Had plenty of views but not a single reply, sigh. I'd just do it via the update app but I want to know how to get the extra space back. I've installed a few apps and I'm down to less than 19gb left. The fake ROM can't be that big surely? Just don't want to wipe it all and up with a bricked phone.
While slightly inebriated , I appear to have bought a Doogee Y6 Max
Oh well, it as cheap, how bad can it be
I had the fake rom on my Mi5S and just updated to the global rom.
Just downloaded the global rom and put it on the phone, then updated using the updater app.No need to apply for unlock.
Thanks will give it a go. Have you noticed something taking up loads of internal storage like mine? I've probably got a GB of apps installed yet I'm down to 19gb out of 32.
Flashing rom didn't work. Used the updater app and pointed it to the rom I downloaded and it sat at a spinning circle screen for ages. Eventually it restarted but I'm still on the fake rom.
When can things never be easy?

Then you're restricting yourself to global ROM only. No miui EU ROM nor cm and other future custom ROMs
