**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Posted on Xiaomi forum asking for best way for me to get rid of the fake rom on my mi5. Had plenty of views but not a single reply, sigh. I'd just do it via the update app but I want to know how to get the extra space back. I've installed a few apps and I'm down to less than 19gb left. The fake ROM can't be that big surely? Just don't want to wipe it all and up with a bricked phone.

I had the fake rom on my Mi5S and just updated to the global rom.
Just downloaded the global rom and put it on the phone, then updated using the updater app.No need to apply for unlock.

Thanks will give it a go. Have you noticed something taking up loads of internal storage like mine? I've probably got a GB of apps installed yet I'm down to 19gb out of 32.

The OS will take up a little bit seems ok to me.

Hello guys, I'm looking at getting a new phone around £150 or less. I've done some research and initially found the Motorola G4 looked ideal for my budget.

However I have just looked into some other options including 'chinese phones' and found Xiaomi phones such as the Redmi Note 3/4 look very good for my budget.

It seems that the Xiaomi Note 3 is more powerful and has a bigger battery than the Moto G4 for around the same price. Do you think I should go with that instead? Also which is better out of the Xiaomi Note 3 and 4 as I've seen conflicting things. :)

Basically which is the best Xiaomi (as they seem to be the best brand) phone for £150 or less? :p

Thanks!

Flashing rom didn't work. Used the updater app and pointed it to the rom I downloaded and it sat at a spinning circle screen for ages. Eventually it restarted but I'm still on the fake rom.

When can things never be easy?

That's a pity save having to muck about with that unlock. http://en.miui.com/unlock/

BTW no matter what i put in the "please input name" box nothing worked.
In the end i googled it and and it's simple as using "name" (without quotes).
