when I set mine up on the desk it did not look that much bigger but I did notice it when I started gaming and took a couple of days to get used to
but now I'm gaming like a champ and cant see myself looking to upgrade
for quite some time, well that's what the mrs hopes:D
 
Gents, I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and I'm stuck between a 27" 144Mhz jobbie and one of these PG348Q monsters.

My concern is that most of my rig is quite old (Z77X mobo, i5 3570K, 8GB DDR3). I am in the process of upgrading it but it's a phased approach due to having to pay off lesser important things, like the mortgage. ;) It does have a GF 1070 in it now though (don't tell the girlfriend).

Will I have any issues driving this beast and, if so, are there any quick wins on the upgrade front?

Quick responses appreciated as the monitor is in my basket and I only have 6 hours left for next day delivery. Thanks in advance. :)

Edit: Games wise, I'm currently heavily into The Division (until I get bored of doing the same missions over and over) and occasionally dabbling in WoW. Only other game I'm likely to look at is Witcher 3. Just in case that has a bearing.

Well if it helps, i've gone from the 27" 144hz ROG to the PG348Q, and i'm glad i made the switch to 34" ultra wide.

Only thing is the performance, you could always lower the graphics settings until you upgrade? ;)
 
Thanks for the reply. I currently game at 1920x1200 (on an ancient 24" Dell) in The Division and it pumps out consistently at over 120FPS on the settings I'm happy with. Whether I'll want to up those settings on a 34" monster is one question.

I wouldn't want to go to a stuttering experience by spending a grand. I assume that G-sync will make a difference at lower FPS anyway, smoothing it all out.

I guess I'll just order it and see, especially as SWMBO has given the green light. I might not get this chance again. ;)

you will be fine with a 1070, I'm getting by with a fury
 
What GPU you currently got? I run The Division @ 3440x1440 on a 980ti still and with a few graphic tweaks but most things turned on my fps is averaging 70 out in the world and 90 in the UG.
 
I've got a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming.

Monitor is here and set up. Had a quick run in The Division and did the daily (not very) challenging Lincoln Tunnel.

It's smooth as silk and getting between 65 and 80 FPS in the open world. Not tried UG as all 4 of my characters are UG level 40.

Only down side to the monitor is the size of the stand. My desk is only 650mm deep so this is on top of me. I've ordered an Ergotron LX mount for it so that I can get it closer to the wall behind my desk. It's a shame you can't just buy the monitor as I'm sure the stand, with it's pretty light, adds to the cost.

I work and game on the same desk so I've got this screen, a 24" Dell with TV above it (on a twin stand) and, at times, two laptops so I need to get some desk back so that everything can live happily.

But I'm loving the monitor so far. There's some BLB bottom left and top right but I've only noticed it on TD loading screen. No dead/stuck pixels.
 
Current using an LG 23" IPS and have the option of picking up a second hand LG 34UC97 for around 650 euros. Not quite sure if that's a good price or not but more concerned about how that monitor in particular is ?

I use a 980ti and wondering would it be worth getting it or is there something else out there? Being from Ireland I'm allergic to buying a new monitor from UK if it has issues. The hassle of returning it etc.

Really interested in going curved 21:9 though.
 
Does anyone know which of the LG displays can be powered by USB-C from a windows laptop?

Or Could I get the Thunderbolt version and use a USB-C to Thunderbolt cable?

Trying to keep my desk as clean as possible.

I'll tell you what does feel small: going back to a 26" 1200p monitor after a 34". Incredibly cramped like looking down the wrong end of a telescope. The DPI is lower too so everything looks oversized and windows don't seem to fit the screen.

The old 26" felt massive over the 20" I had before...
 
A lot of money, but 100% worth it.

Really like the look of the PG348Q, but at just shy of a grand, it's a lot to spend to find out that my single 980Ti can't hack it at that res. I wonder if a 30" 1080 would be better, seeing as I currently game 16:9 1080p on a 32" TV ha.

If you're sitting on a couch with the TV a few feet away from you it won't be that bad but if it's on a desk then anything over 24" is too big for 1080 as the pixels start to become the size of lego blocks.

For anything over 27" it's either 4K or ultrawide 1440P.
