I don't understand racism or homophobia

And the race of the perpetrators!

As you said they keep changing the page.

But there is more evidence that it was a race crime than that Russia hacked the election.

And one girl involved only got a $1,500 bail wtf  should been at least $10,000

I'm saying it's natural, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing that we should tolerate.

Interesting.

Let's just say you were robbed three times within the last month, by a couple of skinheads.

You go out today and spot a skin head. He looks nothing like the skinheads. Who robbed you previously... But he's a skinhead. And you're both walking towards each other.

Do you A - listen to your instinct and take evasive action (cross the road). Because odds would suggest he may rob you again?

Or B - suppress your instinct. Because you fear what people may think of you. And continue to walk towards the skinhead?

So watching that video and reading the story about "them" people kidding that poor kid, the Police Commander Kevin Duffin said this,

Amazing, people still say this and believe this?

There is a line between doing something silly as a kid but kidnapping someone, gagging them, binding them, torturing them, doing drugs and all the other sick crap they did to him just proves me these people are not worthy of life. They are psychopaths and a danger to everyone.

They should be locked up for life till they are old and grey without chance of parole.

But it's also hard not to understand why people hold racist views when they see this, let's be honest, if you watched the video, the "people" in it are typical of every black stereotype.

Even if he chose A, that's not being prejudiced? He has had a bad experience with a sub section of the community? Behaviour has been shaped from experience.

Exactly.

All these feelings and prejudgements are natural. Right or wrong, that is life. So because of this most of today's 'isms will never disappear. Fact.

I don't think that is a fact.

Racism, sexism, homophobia etc are generally decreasing. It takes a long time, but it's happening.

There's always likely to be some people who tar everyone of a certain colour with the same brush, because people from the same socio-economic background and of the same colour commit crime. But these days it's pretty hard, for example, to find anyone who believes we should take votes away from women, or cast out lepers, or whatever.

There were many different coloured tribes of man long before there was slavery etc. Man has been fighting other tribes as long as man has roamed the earth. To imply this is a recent phenomenon is to deny history.

We have always been suspicious of anyone not exactly like ourselves i.e. not of our tribe. My point being, that in order to accept someone from another tribe you have to suppress the instinct of suspicion that is inbuilt into our psyche.

Fears are often irrational, but they remain fears nonetheless.

Odd. I am not suspicious or fearful of black people. Nor women, dwarves, people with brown eyes or even gingers (well maybe gingers to a degree). I think your view point is short sighted and pretty simplistic.

I think this casual acceptance of racism due to a "natural" explanation is both ludicrous and damaging.

Of course it being prejudice. He doesn't know the person in front of him. He just thinks the person could cause harm.

Here's a clue: things aren't a fact because you state "fact" after what you claim. Fact.

The majority of prejudice comes from indirect experience, stories, media, etc.

Being apprehensive of black people due to a number of bad run-ins with them is understandable, being apprehensive of black people because of rap music is silly.

To some... Yes. To others, not so silly at all.

I hate everyone equally, including myself. Do I win £5?

No. Because 5 is an odd number.

Someone give this man.... Or woman 6.

Here's a clue: things aren't a fact because you state "fact" after what you claim. Fact.

Then what else could it be.... I wouldn't life about facts.

Wait, it's not silly to dislike a race because of a genre of music!?

To be honest I've never really liked paella so screw the Spanish.

So you think it is fair to be apprehensive of white males around children due to paedo demographics?
Not willing to hire a Chinese pet-minder?
Hate long haired white men because of rock music?

Being apprehensive of a race due to disliking something vaguely linked to them is categorically silly.

Of course it being prejudice. He doesn't know the person in front of him. He just thinks the person could cause harm.

I disagree with you, personally. Or rather let's take it to to another level first.

Let's say he is being prejudice, does he not have fair reason to be? Numerous bad experiences have involved this subset of the community. I would argue it's almost natural to feel some unease around these specific members of the community?

Too right brother! *high 5* Such educated people as us would never prejudge a bear, we would go closer and stroke it to get more information if it is friendly or not. To stereotype a bear because it's a bear is wicked!

The world's first strawbear argument :D
