I don't understand racism or homophobia

They have moved on... it's others who haven't - there are those that STILL deem them to be inferior.

Whenever I hear people of coloured ethnicity on TV in interview, a not insignificant minority appear to be carrying round a massive chip on their shoulder, forever playing the race card. If they have moved on why is that?

Yeah, judge an entire race by the "not insignificant minority" of the further select few which have been interviewed on TV, and then further narrow it down to those interviews which you have personally seen. That proportion must be by then somewhere down in the 0.0000001% ballpark figure.

I need a bit more evidence than that to generalise to a whole population.

You're watching rubbish TV then i guess. Even though i dont appear on TV, I can say i dont carry a chip on my shoulder against white people. In fact, in my head i just think of them as people, same as anyone else and often forget to differentiate based on my Dulux colour pad.

TV content says more about the company that broadcasts it than any one actually in it.

Can you show me where I say "generalise a whole population please"? I say that 'whenever I see interviews' and a 'not insignificant minority'. I don't even say what the interviews are in relation to.

Please do not misquote me or put 2+2 together and come up with 5. It's not helpful and it's certainly bad manners.

I am talking about mainstream TV channels and programmes such as C4 News, BBC, ITV and C5 News, along with special features around race etc. on this type of programme. I don't class this as 'rubbish TV', do you?

I class most TV as rubbish, especially given how it just panders to one group or another to stir controversy or angry.

I suggest using real people to measure a mans worth rather than using TV to educate whether people are ignorant or not. You know, so you dont become one of them.

Well the ones I have seen interviewed were 'real people', not androids.

They interview idiots to get reactions from other idiots. Thought that was made pretty clear from my post...

Unless you are the interviewer you are just watching a controversial clip to stir your emotions. I personally would get bored of eating the same bait over and over.

That's because they're talking to lowlife. Lowlife come in all colours, shapes and sizes. Where are the interviews with successful black people... I bet you won't hear them moaning about being oppressed.

I'm black and have no chips on my shoulder. Life is good.

These Christian laws:

Papal bulls such as Dum Diversas, Romanus Pontifex and their derivatives, sanctioned slavery and were used to justify enslavement of natives and the appropriation of their lands during this era.

Maxwell 1975 The Catholic Church and Slavery

So you have gone from ""In theory, slavery in Islamic law does not have a racial or color component, although this has not always been the case in practice." in your defence of Islam, to the above for Christians. Can you please quote in the Bible that Christian law has a racial or colour component of slaves, so you are at least consistent? :)

Perhaps by the comments they make, you know, language.

You do throw some difficult question out there.

But what did they say that drew you to think they have a chip on their shoulder?

My grandmother came over from Jamaica when there was a shortage of nurses and she is still upset to this day the way she was treated by some people. Is her being upset about that having a chip on her shoulder?

I'm hardly trying to be difficult just intrigued what got you to that thought. I'm also not saying your view is wrong.
