Hot Hatchbacks..

I sold my EP3 CTR about 3 years ago. Just bought another one. Great car for not a lot of money and they're bomb proof if you keep an eye on the oil levels. Handle very well and still pretty quick today despite the engine coming out over decade ago!

I still prefer my Evo though! :D

I'm a Hot hatch fan. Currently I have a Megane rs250 mapped to near 300bhp. Recaros and cup chassis. It's not as comfortable or easy to jump in and out of than my Mondeo but it's fantastic fun to drive and I love booting it about country lanes.

Hot hatches are great because they give us less rich folk a taste of something exciting.

I had a Peugeot 306gti too which was a wonderful car.

More practical than outright sports cars but still give smiles.

I want an Abarth 500, but I just don't fit.

It's like watching Clarkson climb into a car with a rollcage except I'm taller and much bigger built.

Yeah you wouldn't fit at all. The back seats are also pretty much useless thanks to the sport seats, but i absolutely love mine, massively addictive to drive. I've always had hatchbacks and this is by far the best I've ever had.

Love classic hatchbacks, I've still got my '91 S2 RSTurbo, it sleeps in the garage these days in bubble wrap, only comes out now for the shows. It's not insured or driven daily anymore, just turned over every week and driven around the close etc....but it's value is increasing by the year :)

An old pic, not got anything more recent

deffo get it insured how old cars are increasing is crazy.also we had a mint xr2 mk1 which wasnt insured stolen ages ago.got nothing back . nice rs always prefered the mk1s though if honest. can remeber doing full red 2pac respray on one of them. :D

Had a few in my time. XR2, RS Turbo Fiesta, Saxo VTS, 172 Cup. Favourite of all time and contemplated buying another now is the Renault 5 Turbo Raider. Loved that car!

Out of the current hot hatches of the moment ; AMG A45 , S/RS3 , Focus RS , Civic Type-R, 308 GTI etc etc i believe the Golf R is the best all rounder. Its not the fastest or the best handling , but it does most things well enough in a complete package that is not too flashy that it can be used as a daily driver.

Ok some but not all , so id say the Focus RS is a bit loud depending on the paint colour , there are 2 Focuii RS on my cul de sac, ones the blue and the other one white. The white is a bit more stealth than the blue one.

The Golf R is quite flashy unfortunately, the internet seems full of stories of people getting them nicked which is odd for a car thats hardly common :(

The AMG A45 with the performance body kit or edition 1 are pretty bad ass to be a daily runner. I see an edition 1 in white evrytime i go to my local Waitrose. Although they are very nice , they are out of my range .

I thought the A45 was a fantastic car to drive, but it feels like a rally car (due to the seats to a large degree), where as the Golf R just felt like a normal Golf that went very fast if required. The latter therefore being better as a more subtle and pleasant daily driver. The A45 is a pretty serious performance car, the brakes are among the best I've ever used too.
