
Iam on 33 days + bank holidays. I also acrew 30min extra a day by having 30mins for lunch instead of the 60mins iam allowed, which i take back a day at a time. So thats 33 + 8 + 12 = 53 days off a year. Its not all bad working for the nhs.![]()

Yeah i loved working for HMRC. Pay was rubbish but it was flex time so 8am to 10am starts, lunch between 12pm and 2pm and finish between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
No overtime but any hours in excess of 36.5 hrs could be added onto holidays to a maximum of 2 days per month. Got 28 days plus bank holiday plus queens birthday so got 61 days off per annum.
I knew a girl i worked with who had every friday off as holiday every week.
Once i went in private sector never had more than 20+8![]()

Pretty sure some employers only count full months, so November may not be counted (no idea if this is actually legal however!)
Happy to work for a company who allow me to take holidays in advance (E.G. If I get 20 days annual holiday, I can take them all at any time, so long as I see the year out). I imagine that if I left prior to the year ending, they'd just dock my final pay.

20 days sucks.
30 days here, plus bank holidays, plus office is closed over christmas and new year....
Wait a moment, your company wont let you take holiday until you have accrued it? If so, that isnt the norm, well not for most anyhow.
If you dont mind me asking, what type of business / environment do you work in?

When I worked for ASDA, my store had that policy of you can only take time off holiday when you've actually accrued it. You could book stuff off in advanced, just not take large chunks at the start.
I think it was because someone took the mick one year, booked off a month at the start of the leave year then buggered off, you can technically reclaim the money from the employee, but it's more hassle than it's worth at times.
Nowhere near close to teacher, quick rough guess they get about 60 odd.
My understanding is that in the UK, your minimum annual leave entitlement is 28 days per year if you work a four or five day week (pro rata for those that work 1-3 day weeks) and pro rata for the amount of an annual leave year you have will have been employed by a company.
It is also my understanding that this minimum should not be rounded down.

Though for example i can take 2 weeks holiday in February without question. My holiday year is Jan-Dec, ill accrue that holiday throughout the rest of the year.
Redgie suggested, please do correct me if im wrong, he must earn the holiday before being able to take it. That suggests a fairly high staff turnover environment, with a large amount of leavers.
So just confirm, Redgie wont be able to take 2 weeks holiday until say June.
I imagine i completely misread that, but he implied that hasnt been the case elsewhere.
