*** Nintendo Switch ***

Graphically, I wonder how different breath of wild would be on Wii U vs the Switch?
That's the only game I really want to play on the Switch at this time...

Really?

The launch lineup is fine for you?

Source

I mean, yeah, why would you want games to play on your new system on launch day.

It depends on the circumstance of the individual though doesn't it?

For me being a parent of a 13 month old, I won't necessarily have the time to dedicate to playing a ton of games, but a game like Zelda which will no doubt need a lot of hours put into the game, I can pick it up as and when I can, wait a month for MK to come out and I'll be set for a good while.

As I said, I can understand the negativity because a lot of you bought the Wii U. But for me - everything that's being fussed over isn't an issue for me.

Most launch line ups aren't exactly mind blowing in fairness.

Totally.

Picked the Euro release titles for all consoles, yeah totally lacking on all the other launches.

Waiting for the Zelda reviews. Hoping I can pick up a cheap Wii u to play it. I'm not really prepared to go down the same road as always with nintendo. Buying a console just to play a handful of Nintendo first party games. I've been a massive Nintendo fanboy from the NES but honestly I think it would just be better if they became a software company.

I will keep my pre-order but I'm not too excited by it, it's a shame.

I think this will be Nintendo's last piece of hardware. I was dead against them going 3rd party but I am warming to the idea now. A Mario or Zelda game on a modern console would be epic.

Out of that list, there are either 0, 1 or 2 titles that I did, or would have bought on those consoles. Yes it's disappointing in terms of numbers but a lot of garbage comes with launch day too.

1-2 Switch, which, am I wrong, is literally two people looking at each other then raising their hands, costs $50? For about $0.5 of gameplay? Is Nintendo actively trying to make their board/stock holders kill off hardware or something by doing the worst launch possible?

If they waited 6 months they could have a dozen more games ready, have Mario Kart 8 ready. They seem to have rushed it all just for Zelda, but in doing so made it look absolutely horrible. The only reason to use a last gen Tegra was how soon it was coming to market, though that is a poor excuse anyway. If they planned this for end of 2017, with more planning they could have had a couple dozen more games and released this on the next gen Tegra with twice the power, then they could at least better do more power on home mode and 4-5 hour battery life in handheld mode.

Every single decision so far seems like the absolutely worst thing possible. But 1,2 Switch, for $50..... seriously?

EDIT:- looking at those launch titles it occurs to me the other consoles all seemed to launch when planned and ignored big titles. IE Xbox One didn't launch with a new Halo game, they planned long in advance, got the hardware, gave devs plenty of time to get a bunch of titles ready and more in development and launched. Then their exclusive big title just came when it came. PS4 was the same, it didn't wait for Uncharted or a huge game, it was planned to come out when the hardware was good and loads of devs had plenty of times to get games ready.

Switch however has absolutely no games except one, the maybe biggest IP title waited for in years. Nintendo seem to have done the opposite, rather than plan hardware and get support then big titles come when they come, they've rushed Switch to be ready for Zelda, planned nothing, got no real third party support, no support with more of their own games. They'd literally tanked the Switch in every way possible just to launch with that particular big title. If PS4/Xbox One had rushed out with just Halo or Uncharted, but nothing else ready at all and on subpar hardware just to rush it out... they'd have failed pretty badly(if you also presume if they did this it was on non standard hardware that is going to be a nightmare to port to).

This. I never had the Wii-U so something like MK8 I can't wait to own for the switch, plus Smash Bros and anything else that gets ported across.

Was this release a "home run" - not by any means. Is it enough to make me want one and get the console? Absolutely.

More games will be out soon enough after the consoles initial release. Most were expecting March 17th but they came out with March 2nd. Other games are being advertised as released in Spring/Summer. So it won't be long. The games list should grow at a good pace after release.

Plus it wouldn't surprise me if we see more confirmations/announcements with release dates in the next couple of weeks and leading upto the consoles actual release.

I'm waiting on reviews of Zelda. Still extremely bitter we've been shafted on the WiiU re. this. Let's wait years and years for the sub par version! Yey! If it's universally hailed as a return to form, despite misgivings re. hardware, launch and future titles, i'll crumble and get a Switch day one. One truly great game is worth a console purchase for me. However, we haven't had what I consider to be a great Zelda for over 14 years. Time will tell.

Mario would have been enough if they'd showed open spaces to explore and a controllable camera. I would have pre-ordered straight away. From what we've seen now I can't tell if it's like 3D World, Galaxy or a Hybrid. It doesn't look like a Mario 64 though. Literally nothing else was interesting.

I don't have a Wii U and didn't own a Wii either. My last Nintendo console was the GameCube which as great. The Switch had the potential to revive Nintendo for me but it looks like they have royally screwed up.
