*** Nintendo Switch ***

Amazon did not have the blue/red when I ordered just the grey.

Can't decide if I like it.

It is on par with new games on the PS4.

You think a game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the same budget as a game like Horizon Zero Dawn? Yet Horizon is cheaper. Switch games have similar graphics to the Wii U and should be priced accordingly.

Besides Nintendo launched the 3DS at like £250 and had to massively cut the price within 6 months, you'd think Nintendo would learn from the past.

I think the price is bang on expectation.

Judging from this Internet's reaction the price is too high for the actual console and almost insulting for the accessories.

The games cost would be fine for a current gen console, but for portable? Too high.
It has Zelda ! and launch titles rarely are all good.
One good game that's available on an existing system. Launches usually aren't great but this is awful.
Would you would be happy if they put in said an i7 but no games for 10 years?
That's just silly, all that was expected is a full performing X1, instead it has an extremely underclocked one, and still barely any games this year.
My point is, what good is a fast CPU if there are nothing to play....what are you priorities?

What games? Have you looked at the 2017 lineup?

.

It's not a PS4, 3DS games were $20 cheaper than Wii U games, now they are the same price but it's only a mobile power capable device even if you play it on a bigger screen

Not to everyone, but to some, if there are 32 titles as with the Wii U at launch, then everyone can probably find 3-4 games they like. If you have 2 titles, and one of them is **** and $50 too much(the quick draw game) then you're left with one title.

In actually having powerful hardware, they would make it dramatically easier to port games quickly actually therefore increasing the number of games being released dramatically. It costs the same as the PS4/Xbox, yet has worse hardware and no compatibility. If it had decent hardware it could basically play all the same games with almost zero porting issues. Why is Fifa not ready for launch, because it's using a 360/Ps3 version they haven't updated in ages, because their newer version isn't going to work on that level of hardware.

That's exactly where i am coming from, the other points are just that, disappointments but I can live with them. I have a PS4 for other games which I want more CPU power for.

Handheld games have almost always been cheaper precisely because they aren't on the same level as full scale consoles, this bucks that trend by giving you cheaper hardware but charging you the same as higher end hardware that actually costs a lot more to produce and changes you the same higher costs for games.

It's a joke.

Also as people are pointing out, the single 'big' launch title, is also coming out on Wii U, making it far less attractive as an awful lot of the die hards who would usually buy a new Nintendo console will already have a Wii U and can get Zelda for £40 compared to £60 on the Switch. A lot of people were also led to believe this Zelda game would be out years ago and on Wii U, as in, a lot of people bought that console because they knew Zelda was coming out for it. I would say probably 60+% of people who would buy Zelda, already have a Wii U. Meaning just for Zelda you can spend £340 to play it on the Switch, or £40 to play on the Wii U, for a very high portion of the people who want to play Zelda.

Well maybe your expectations, but clearly not many here :p

I do not bother with other consoles, but did not know they sold for £60 a game. Damn. That means my graphics cards pay for themselves on PC, as even launch games I get for less than half that on PC.

True, but still not good.

My priority is simple, hold back the release of the console until end of year, benefit from 14/16nm and more importantly a bigger launch library. Win :D

I can live with it also and have a PC for proper 4K gaming which even the PS4 Pro cannot do, does not stop me from being disappointed at the same time :D

It is all about expectations, yours were low or "realistic" if that is what you want to call it, so you are happy/indifferent. Me, I expected more, a little disappointed.

Just looking at the trajectory from launch, it does not bode as well as I would want for the system, but you never know :)

Oh and DM has also made some very valid points above in his reply.

Your first word indicates we are looking at it the opposite end.

I see it as a hole console on the go. You see it as a handheld.

Ps I have a Wii U, still want it and will pay for a Switch copy.

I think we get it - you don't like the Switch.

It's worse as you could get a PS4 with Uncharted 4 for less than the price of the Switch alone and still have enough left for a year of Plus which has free games that you get to keep as long as you subscribe, VS Nintendo renting you a NES or SNES game for a month.

So its $70 for the "Pro" controller which is realistically what you want to use when in a docked mode.
Poeple got annoyed when the the XBO Pro Controller released, and its actually a pro set up.

Haha. But he does also make some valid points at least.

I like the Switch, cannot wait for it to arrive so I can play Zelda. I really hope we see lot's of games for it in 2018, that I think will be the main difference between success and fail.

What Nintendo should do leading up to launch is name a bunch of games being worked on coming in 2018, that would help I think. If they stay silent, people will bury them online :(

Out of curiosity what do people think of Zelda games these days? I don't think any of them have been truly excellent since wind waker (although I'm discounting link between worlds as it's of the 2D type). Ok so that only 2 games but... you know :p

Despite my poo pooing I have preordered with Zelda, for the potential flog post-Zelda / cancel.

I think we all agree - Zelda better be really, really good.

Twilight Princess, Wind Walker and particularly A Link Between Worlds were all great in my opinion.

The DS games and Skyward Sword were a bit crap.

I'm surprised you think so! I thought The TP dungeons were so.... linear. They felt like filler.

Forrest temple in OoT - now that's a temple

I feel the same and said so a page or so back. Zelda hasn't been on form for over a decade now. That haven't been bad, but not great. I'm really hoping the new one is a return to greatness, but the brand (like with most of Nintendo's stuff) doesn't hold the weight it used to.

Based on the joy con costs it looks like Nintendo have again chosen to spend their budget on silly controller gimmicks. Who decided they wanted to be able to milk a cow or eat food or count numbers of icecubes with their controller?

Indies will be all over this.

Are games exclusively on cartridges or can you just use digital downloads too? Sounds obvious but I never know with Nintendo :D
