*** Nintendo Switch ***

not buying at launch, have upgraded ps4 to ps4 pro and have 49inch 4k HDR tV, so this really don't appeal with lack of any decent launch games and over the top price, £250 with Zelda may have swung it, but tbh to many decent PS4 titles out this year 3 of which are out end of MARCH

You mean the way Microsoft have been considered the losers in this current gen and all hopes are now on Scorpio?

Hardly losing when you compare them to the Wii U though are they? Scorpio will also run the same games as Xbone as well, so if all hopes are now on Scorpio like you say then that means all hopes are still on the Xbone.

Dont know why people are moaning about lack of decent launch titles. There hasn't been decent launch titles since the N64 back in 1996 and that was because of Mario 64. What was you expecting?!?! Instead Zelda enough?

Anyone remember PS2 launch titles.....? FantaVision...Gradius III and IV!!! Gradius!! a 2D shooter released on at 128bit console! Most of the other games were Dreamcast ports.

Let's pretend Nintendo's new console is this instead.

Nintendo announce the N-T !!!!

T for Teraflops

In it you will find a 5 teraflops CPU etc with 8G of RAM, online functionality, 1TB HDD and Bluray drive with HDR and 1 pad.

Games you can play - FIFA 17, Tomb Raider, Mine Craft, every non exclusive game you can already play on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Yours for £349.99.

Who is going to get this when you probably have those games on the other 2 consoles? The people who wants Mario will get a Nintendo regardless of spec, regardless of design. To me, announce another clone Intel box isn't going to sell.

I know this is supposed to be hyperbole this makes more sense than their current plan.

A lot of people buy a PS4/Xbone for Fifa alone. Imagine that was you but you like Mario as well. Which would you buy?

Plus only + £70 for a considerably more powerful more future proof console doesn't sound that bad.

Didn't you just say it, the Nintendo guys will buy it anyway. Lots of people actually don't have those games or a Xbox or PS4. 17mil people bought a PS4 last year. If they instead had an option of 85% of the same games but Nintendo IP as well maybe half of that 17mil would have gone for Nintendo.

Now just move that forward a bit, if they make a console out this/next year for home computing then they'd take sales away from PS4 pro/Scorpio.

But in the way they've done it, the Nintendo die hards will buy, but absolutely no one has a single reason to buy the Switch now. It's expensive but dated hardware, it's behind the times and already has terrible 3rd party support.

Hmm?

Edit: Just want to add, I'd buy it in a heartbeat but instead I have to pay double, for a PS4 and a switch if I want to play both 3rd party games and Nintendo. The way you put it you can only have 1 or the other but a Nintendo that runs both is just what millions have been asking for.

Basically what DM said.

But all everyone you know will have a PS4/Xbone - so you think a third console is going to tempt whole groups away from the big two? Because that's what you'd have to try and do to crack that market.

Nintendo can't make a solid internet based experience to save their lives, there's no way they're going to make a console to beat Sony/MS in that arena.

Could you make the argument without the ghz?

Is that your only disappointment?

They'll slap Pokémon go on it and make millions still.

I won't be buying one anytime soon, but I get Nintendo's strategy.

So I was a little miffed at this this morning. But then reminded myself it's a bloody handheld. I have a 27 hour journey in May, plus the return. This is worth it's weight in gold to me. I'm always travelling somewhere.

I just need it confirmed that it can charge via USB/Power bank and I'm in.

Edit - looks like USB C. I'm in.

I love the hybrid concept, but the controllers all seem clunky and awkward. Definitely interest but not at that ridiculous price tag and just like the past 3 Nintendo home consoles the lack of 3rd party support means you couldn't really have this a primary gaming system

This is the thing. Nintendo fans are twindling in number by the day. Nintendo won peoples loyalty with the reputation gained with NES, SNES, N64 and handhelds. When the hardware and games were both great. With every subsequent generation this hard earned reputation has faded. We now have entire generations of gamers who haven't played Mario, Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Pilot Wings, Smash Bros etc etc and just don't care. Nintendo have been doing a Sega for years - they're just doing it much slower.

I've just ordered Zelda Breath of the Wild Special Edition. Was hoping to get Master Edition including the sword but its not available in the UK. Still glad the special edition is still available now.

No they couldn't, do you want Nintendo to go the way of Sega?

What benefit is it to us to have yet another box like the PS4 or Xbox One?

How about it's main USP, it's portable??

People saying why would you want another COD, FIFA l, (insert name here) box. This console isn't a GameCube style, it's portable. A fully fledged FIFA, for example, that you could play at home and take with you is something a lot of people would want.

If this was just a box that sat under your TV, your arguement would make sense, but it's whole purpose is taking your game with you, I would like to take the good games I enjoy from 3rd parties with me.

These children will get the Switch and extra controller the same way these children got their hands on a £400 iPad.

I am not on about what these children are interested in, I am talking about what Nintendo are targeting. They are not targeting at your Battlefield, sitting in front of the TV with headsets crowd. Where did you get that idea from their marketing so far? Or is that what you wanted and because they haven’t given you what you wanted, you are moaning?

My 7 year old nephew won't. If he could play FIFA, a good racing game and mine craft it would replace his Xbox one Snand he'd be desperate to. but as it is, he'll have his Xbox and just use his tablet for crap games on the go, rather than spend 400 quid for playing crap games on the go.
