Xbox Scorpio

ON PC my most recently completed game was half life II, which frankly made the newer Assassins Creed Syndicate look like the polished **** that it is.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but I can play through The Orange Box (which includes Half Life 2), which I bought for the 360 almost 10 years ago, on my Xbox One, and continue to do so on Scorpio once it's released.

People seem to be having a hard time accepting Scorpio will just be an Xbox One that plays games slightly better than the base hardware, and that's fine with me.

Well that is progress, I'm quite supportive of any/all attempts at backwards compatibility. However I'm pretty sure you fully understand the point I'm making.

I'm unhappy with any format which artificially prevents playing of previously purchased games.

How about the pc master race go back to the pc forum if they're not interested in the Scorpio?

I want some details of game improvements on the console already!

At xbox 360 performance levels and graphical quality.

wow why has this thread turned into a pc vs console fight?

XBOX will always have this millstone round their neck seeing as Microsofts console will always be basically a cut down PC in a box. More so that now nearly all their future games will be playable on the Windows 10 platform.

I like the XBox and always got one for their Halo, Forza and GoW franchises. But if they're going to release everything for Windows 10 then this will remove a major reason for me to get the Scorpio. It will still have convenience and ability to connect to a big TV (my gaming PC is in my office) but these are lesser reasons and would cause me to wait until towards the end of the consoles life-cycle rather then closer to the beginning. Which would cause MS to lose a lot of money from me because i waited for everything to become a lot cheaper.

Backwards compatibility has been fantastic for me as i'm still catching up on 360 exclusives like Bayonetta and Red Dead Redemption and i really wish Sony did the same with their PS4 with PS3 games, which i still need to keep a PS3 about.

What excluzives will MS have for SCOPRIO this year? What is the benefit for buying XBOX?

Well according to MS, Scorpio will never have exclusive games, only ones that look and run better than their XB1 version. But as only the Scorpio will run VR games, then perhaps the only exclusives will be VR only games. On the other hand it is MS and its non unheard of for them to do a 180 on statements of intent.

I was 100% for Scorpio and was going to preorder one for day one, now i'm not so sure.

Play Anywhere means the MS games are going to play on my new PC, I haven't touched Gears or Forza Horizon 3 on the XBox since i have my new rig and why would I? 4k and 60hz for both games with barely any issues (except the bad patch on FH3 last week).

Whats to make me buy a scorpio now for release? the only likely game we have heard of for release is Forza 7, that will most likely be a Play Anywhere title again. What else?

I will get one, I still game with my friends on Live more than i do on PC but the urgency is not there for me like it was. it currently feels like the Xbox S something id like to have but whats the real advantage? Upscaled 4k? HDR?

Hopefully some 3rd partys will either announce their plans for upgrades/benifits with Scorpio or they will buy into play anywhere as well (though i doubt that). Its early in the year I know but they need to start the ramp up and start building hype with something better that talking about Specs of chips and stuff that don't do much apart from saying ours if bigger than yours.

We need details including what 3rd partys are planning.

I'd never thought about the whole dual platform thing from that point of view but from what some of you guys are saying in a way it could hurt them because they are basically saying making the Scorpio level 2 and Xbox level 1 as it were. (Only taking image quality and performance into account obviously. But to a lot of people that's everything!) So does that mean they will sell less Scorpios? It will be interesting to watch how it pans out. :)

I guess it all depends on the amount of dual playable games there will be.

Probably would have saved time on that story if you simply said "PC's are bestist, Scorpio sucks".

Or then again you could read what i wrote? Thats not what i'm saying at all.

When the new AAA shooter that all my friends are playing comes out I will most likely buy it on Xbox cause thats where i play that sort of game mainly with friends. BF1, Division, TF2 all of them i play on console with friends and almost all my friends play on Xbox.

But until the 3rd party developers announce there upgrades for Scorpio or how they are going to deal with new titles then why would i buy one?

Those games will work on an xbox one, Forza, halo wars, sea of thieves are going to be play anywhere so i can play them on either my PC or my xbox.

BUT when the next Battlefield game or whatever comes around that i currently cant crossplay, will it have enough extras to make me want to play it on a Scorpio?

As an early adopter i hope it does but right now it sits in the same category as the Vive does with me, I'd really like one but i need to be sold on it and im not yet.

But sure PCMR and all that BS:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So with the release of the Switch at a slightly pricier point than I expected what do we see this coming in at?
Personally I'm thinking about the worth of buying this with a Gaming PC and OG Xbox One. I guess VR would be the deciding factor here.

I plan on getting a Switch so need to consider my gaming spending budget, will see what I want more after the Scorpio reveal I guess.

That's a very good point.

I've currently got both ps4 and xbone S. I've also got two PC's - one of which will be upgraded to high-end upon Zen release.

Whats the point in getting a scorpio if I can play my games much better performance wise on my PC? Only reason I can think of is for the Elite gaming pad (which I do like) but even then I'm sure I can just plug this in or somat!

Its going to be over £400 I bet and with the price point of the Switch and peoples reactions to its price the Scorpio will get the same bad press. But Microsoft has already said this wont be a cheap console.

Plug the elite pad in with a micro USB cable on the PC and away you go.

Indeed Inhave a PC and laptop and I'm just wondering how much Scorpio will actually give me. I still want one though for the living room experience but perhaps not at launch.

Yeh I see £500 being the price now. I thought it would be inder £400 before with the price point of the the PS4 Pro but I guess we will see. Microsoft are full of surprises.
