Hi Guy's,

I'm currently in the market for a GPU and Monitor upgrade. I was thinking about going for a higher res screen. At the moment I have 2 x 970's and I was considering going 1080 or perhaps 2x 1070.

My question is what sort of FPS are others getting with the 1070 and 1080 on 1440p monitors? Obviously ultra settings are a must.

Mostly play BF1 but I also play Dying Light and GTA V.

Cheers

From the Ti? Who knows? It has not even been announced yet. Probably around TXP performance give or take based off previous Ti releases.

I use a EVGA GTX1080 FTW and Acer x34a 3440x1440p Ultra-Wide and it's a match made in heaven. Everything I play is well over 60fps. I won't be getting a 1080Ti. It's not needed my EVGA 1080 is more then enough. I might even skip the 11 series.

I have a GTX1080 and 1440p screen, playing BF1 online it tends to hang around 80-90fps everything on ultra, can go higher or lower depending on what's going on but overall, butter smooth.

I would opt for a 1070 and with the saving get the best monitor I could afford.

Graphics cards go out of date much quicker than monitors.

Maybe consider an ultrawide.

Single GTX1080 will cut 2560x1440 if it has GSYNC. Without gsync you have to tone down the graphic settings in some games for high fps.

But we are talking here about £600 monitor if you want an IPS one, and another £600 for a 1080. (Total £1200+)

Alternative grab a RX480 8GB and a Freesync monitor (which cost around £400 for IPS 2560x1440 144hz with 23-144 freesync range), and wait for Vega this summer. Still the card will do avg around 69fps on BF, and the price tag around £630 for everything.

Your choice.

Single 1080 here and it handles 3440x1440 ultrawide just fine, however I do have Gsync to help with the more demanding games.

My old Titan X ran my Dell 1440p monitor just fine though and my mates 980ti handles the same monitor just fine as well

If you get a G-SYNC monitor go for a 1070, even if you hit below 60fps on Ultra you won't notice it thank to the magic. I play at 1440p with my 970 and BF1 gets around 70FPS on Ultra/High settings. When it drops do 50FPS I don't notice it.

I have a Fury Pro and a 1440P monitor and it's great. So my card is approx 5% slower than a Fury X. I do have a Freesync 1440P monitor (BenQ XL2730Z) so that helps.

BF1 plays great on it and is as smooth as chocolate. I am guessing you have a chance of a cheap Fury X and that is why you are asking. :)

I play @1440p and games run fine but I’m not the sort of person that needs every setting maxed, I prefer good minimums as it feels smother. That said, most games run fine with ultra-settings.

Thanks guys, yeah i picked up a fury x cheap enough always been team Green but with the driver support getting better with Amd i decided to try them out, should get my card this week long as it was posted on time.

Well you know where to come if you have any problems. Lots of good people willing to help here. :)

If it's just a single card like myself then I have had very few issues with any of the latest drivers. I have always updated my drivers over the top of previous ones and have never had any major issues. Obviously your experience may differ depending on the other bits n bobs in your setup.

Good Luck with your card and enjoy your gaming.
:D
