*** Nintendo Switch ***

Still don't really trust Nintendo when it comes to digital, will wait until launch and we have more concrete information on how downloads are tied to your account rather than the console before I bite.

Will be interesting to see if Digital Foundry or someone compare internal storage vs SD cards vs cartridge - personally think it'll be next to no difference unless you're using a totally rubbish SD card.
It was announced a few days ago that games are tied to accounts, not consoles.

So folks, for the Wii U, what do I need to do to... de-authorise it from my account and make sure I don't lose any stuff linked to it so that when I used the Switch it will all up and running like normal?

I saw that but knowing Nintendo I will wait and see what the caveats are, only x number of downloads per year or something I bet, also licensing issues could make certain downloads unavailable after a time.

A licensing issue with 1984 and Animal Farm on Kindle a few years back meant people woke up to find their books had been deleted and they had a refund on their card, I wouldn't put that past Nintendo in spite of how much I love their games and hardware.

General problem with digital media, that's why I will never fully commit. They have the right to take it away no matter what.

Makes no sense for me personally to go digital on a console. I like to sell my games after playing them as they cost a lot to buy in the first place. Happy to go digital only on Steam as I get games for less than half price on release vs consoles. Even then I do that with only a few games, some I wait and buy it for a tenner or under. Not to mention I can still play my games from 10+ years ago on it like Half Life 2 now if I want to without hassle :)

It certainly is tempting to go digital for the convenience of it. At least for the handful of games I never plan to sell.

Are you selling your Wii U? if so just format the system I guess. If not, you don't need to change anything on the Wii U.

If you don't have one already, create a Nintendo account @ https://accounts.nintendo.com/. Then under 'User Information' link your NNID (the account used on your WiiU/3DS) to your Nintendo Account.

The Nintendo Account is what you'll use in to sign in with on the Switch.

Thanks bud! Under Nintendo Network ID it says its already linked! Nintendo Network ID! Seems I like I mustve done this at some point earlier!

I've pre-ordered the console but cancelled my Zelda Special Edition.

Going to wait until launch and pick up a regular one, wherever I can find it cheapest or with other games like Bomberman if there are deals on multiple games.

Only 2 weeks til launch. Ninty are keeping so shtum that I keep forgetting its so soon. Half expect it to turn up as a surprise

Think of it that Nintendo don't want to reveal any spoilers so you get a full unboxing and setting up experience on Day 1! Aside from checking the recent leaks of course...

Saw my first switch tv ad yesterday on comedy central. It was for 1-2 switch and the part I saw didn't really explain what the console was or the selling point of being able to take it anywhere.

Reminded me of the wii u ads where they didn't /couldn't explain the point of the tablet.

I am sure there will be more ads doing so in the next couple of weeks. Well, actually not so sure with Nintendo.

Yeah I don't think 1-2 Switch is the way to go, reminds people of the Wii maybe. However, I had a couple of mates last weekend ask me about Nintendo's new console, at least they are are aware. Another friend has actually pre ordered one too! I think they have had big coverage on the internet though (which you would expect) and this is where most people find out about things.

I'm fully expecting mines to arrive at 8:30pm on the 3rd via some guy in a Corsa or something...Amazon Expedited Delivery prove me wrong!

I'm also basically going to have 2 days of Horizon on my Pro before Zelda hits then I know what I'll be playing...

I'm worried about my Amazon delivery as I live in the middle of nowhere and I would say around 10% of all orders via Prime do not make it on time as they get lost. It'll be a long day! This weekend I will sort out my TV cabinet and wires in preparation.

Recently my Resident Evil 7 Delivery came a day late, wasn't impressed and that's with a prime membership.

My fear is probably more that my games won't arrive on the same day of the console (ordered elsewhere) but didn't want to change those orders as I got in during the initial price confusion and secured a Pro Controller, Zelda Limted Edition and 1 2 Switch for a little over £130 all in.

I'm saying that I'm sure everything will be just fine haha!

I've got no trust in Amazon delivering on launch day, and if they do then it won't be until 9pm.

I've got an order in with Nintendo, with Smyth's as a backup. Also have Zelda on order with Amazon which I'm hoping will arrive on Thursday otherwise I might just go to Smyth's and buy it there for £48.
