Wondering if anyone has ever done this? I've never placed a bet on anything in my life, but see the adverts for £30 when you bet £10 etc. -- so I am tempted to stick £20 down for a bit of fun.

My question is, what are the rules on betting on these early? a lot of films aren't out yet, but I have seen some of them due to my job (I am not involved in any jury/awards or anything mind). There's no way I could know who/what is going to win, but would they object because I am in the industry?

Secondly, I can only find 'best picture' odds online currently. Would I have to go into a betting shop to do it? Wondering if I could stick a multiplier on a couple of my options just to make it interesting :o

My thinking is the odds are better for me now, before the films are released..

What they don't know won't hurt them but I can't see it being a problem unless you or someone close to you is actually involved in the voting side.

The bookies have no problems taking your money, so if you have the edge on them, abuse the hell out of it. And drop me a trust :p

I knew some smarty pants would ask ;)

Err, so I'll probably have to go into a bookies then? Feels a bit like venturing into the Wetherspoons at 11pm on a Saturday night in the dodgy part of town :p Although that would mean I can't get any of the online deals for money back.

set up an online account?

I do work for a bookies. Yeah if you come into a shop and we can't find it on our system we'll call our bet clearance people to see if they'll do a special price. You may have to return next day. No guarantees, mind!!
I'll check tomorrow, was there anything specific?

And it's not that bad entering a bookies, not ones I've worked in

I've just got a good idea for best picture and best actor/actress. It's more wishful thinking to be honest. Or are you now going to call the bookie police and do me for insider trading? :p

Bump, well all the noms are out. I never got round to sticking some money down before. Any good deals online where I can get a free bet etc as a first-timer?

Put all of your money on La La Land for best picture, Emma Stone for best actress and Casey Affleck for best actor. Any La La Land related musical number, bet on that as well.
