**RYZEN CPU COOLER INFORMATION**

yep i understand that either am3 or 4 coolers will work with the crosshair but that does not really answer the question , it was more a specific reference to Noctua's mounting system and its use on the crosshair , will the long set of mounting bars fit due to the closeness of components to the AM4 socket on this board ( specifically the side of the socket closest to the back of the motherboard ) ?

I sent noctua a message last night asking about compatibility with the crosshair motherboard, I will post the answer here when I get a response back.

I emailed NZXT no response.

I haven't actually purchased an AIO cooler yet, should I wait for NZXT or get something from a different manufacturer.

Any ideas if the Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 will fit on a ASUS CROSSHAIR VI HERO AMD X370 as there appears to be caps closer to the cpu socket on this board than most others ?
It should be fine. I had an Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, which has even more caps even closer to the CPU socket.

They didn't cause any problems, because the Noctua mounting hardware cleared them. The caps on the Crosshair VI seem to be completely out of the way of the mounting holes too, unlike the Maximus VIII where the bar has to sit over the top.

The new AM4 mounting bars come out really wide from the screw holes though, they are not straight but curved outwards and I think the caps will interfere with it. Hopefully will get a response form noctua soon and then can order the board as its the crosshair I really want.

Contacted Noctua for a kit for Noctua NH-D15S Dual Radiator Quiet CPU Cooler , Got a Auto reply email so far with ticket number at top so far
Contacted Phanteks for a kit for the PH-TC14S CPU Cooler , no reply yet

Do you know what, the noctua will be fine with the am4 bars on the crosshair board as long as the heat sink is mounted with the fan facing the back of the case, it will only cause problems if the heat sink is facing up with the fan facing the top. (Hope that makes sense)

Not sure if this was stated in the thread before but :

If you are going with the Asus Crosshair VI Hero it has AM3 and AM4 holes so it's backward compatible

Does this mean any cooler that fits an AM3 socket will work out of the box on this board? I've ordered the 1800X / Crosshair VI Hero and a cooler for the machine. Thinking the 212 Evo or X but I don't want to get order it without being sure it'll fit.

Just received via email from NZXT, for those thinking of going Kraken route..

We at NZXT believe in providing high-quality components to our customers as well as exceptional customer service no matter where you live. We are currently producing a retention bracket to support the new AM4 socket as well as the AM2 and AM3 sockets and will be providing this for free to all qualified users. This retention bracket will be ready to ship starting March 15, 2017 to our customers worldwide.

The AM4 Kit will allow NZXT Kraken users to upgrade their coolers to support AMD’s newest released AM4 Socket (Ryzen) motherboards and qualified users can start sending in bracket request now at nzxt.com/am4-bracket.

So presumably all krakens purchased after this date will come with the bracket in the box,?

Yes, I discovered this today. I wish they did it for all ASUS boards.

I have emailed Silverstone about the Heligon HE01 AM4 support.

I wouldn't count on it. There'll be a load of Krakens already sitting in warehouses sans-bracket. NZXT will send you one out mid-March though. Probably would be my preferred cooler.

100% works with any AM3 cooler you can check OC3D.net review of the board.

AM3/AM4 Cooler Support

One of the biggest selling points of this motherboard is its support for both AM4 and AM3 compatible coolers, with mounting holes for both CPU socket designs. This will allow users to continue using their existing cooling setup and will give them a wider range of cooling options of they choose to upgrade their cooling setup.

Right now most coolers require an AM4 upgrade kit, which could take a considerable amount of time and money to acquire quickly.

It is a shame that more motherboard manufacturers have not included mounts for both CPU cooler types, as that would have made the upgrading process much simpler for a large number of users.
