Some people might, kids bedroom you get a console that can do everything or one that just plays games. If people aren't big on games, they might look and say 'nah get one with netflix available'. Again it just shows the short sightedness of Nintendo tbh.

I genuinely think people using games consoles as all in one home media centres are in the significant minority - the applications in my TV are easier to get to if I want Netflix and things like Amazon FireSticks are quicker and easier than booting up a console if you're TV is too old to have Smart features. If I were Nintendo I wouldn't be too worried about losing a handful of customers are who more interested in netflix than playing games on their games console.

The difference is, everyone had/has easy access to Pokemon go as smart phones are everywhere, most people were thinking "why not?". The Switch is in a different league. It's more or less a portable gaming device aimed at children.

So looking at the shield tv's CPU, then taking into account the Switch is half the mhz and only 3 cores for games... unless I am missing something that makes it a shed load slower than my galaxy s7's CPU?? Or am I being dumb as that sounds terrible

The irony is, no grown up male will be out in public playing Mario and Zelda on this thing, despite the whole portable console thing being it's main selling point. It's too embarrassing and humiliating to be participating in such an act. You know it and I know it. I really hope I don't sit next to a guy playing Zelda as I'm heading out on a plane for my next business trip, or I will be concerned. Now I know that this is unlikely for the reasons I state, despite today's social issues.

Not to worry, I was entered on it when I bought a NES, SNES, Gameboy, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU..... they must be permanently camped outside of my house and get a full panic on when I take my nephew to the playground.
