AMD Capsaicin & Cream

Well that was underwhelming. I think he pulled it back with the Vega T-Shirts at the end though - thank god for that... /sarcasm

Tbh after the hype of Ryzen surely just showing an early design vega gpu (with very little info shown or talked about) would have sent ati hype to the moon.

Instead just more vr talk and tbh have we not learned from 3d? until vr reaches a decent level of quality and ease of use/price it will never be main stream.

Tommorow will be another bad ati day as the gap widen's.

He did say right from the start after some waffling preamble it wasn't a Vega launch so not sure why people are disappointed.

Too much VR talk imo.

Until we can move away from holding/wearing multiple sensors, looking like a prat and breaking everything within your vicinity whilst VR gaming then I just can't see it going mainstream. That's just my opinion though - happy to be proven wrong.

So bored of VR this VR that. Why are we being forced to get on board with all this crap. It failed before, it'll fail again because guess what, less than a few percent of people actually want it.

Just give me a fast as *@! $ card that runs everything on my monitor/TV.

He said it wasnt a launch, but that we would get info on the vega. Dont think anybody was expecting it to 'launch' but we were expecting some benchmarks/info re the card and he kind of lead you to believe you would get that at the end.

Fortunately for me the moment he said 'will have to stay until the end' for it i just turned off the stream anyway as no interest in the terribly awkwardly forced sounding jokes/camaraderie.

And what was the big reveal at the end? To be told Vega will be called RX Vega. That just took the biscuit.

So glad i was doing something else while having the stream playing in the background. Wasnt at all interesting.
At least could have had a little teaser, jeeez we've been waiting for so long.

Am trying not to read into it too much. But it is worryingly as though the VEGA is a flop and they dont want it ruining their current growth :|

It's not going to be a flop but I think it's only going to offer GTX1080 levels of performance and based on how old the 1080 will be by the time it releases it's nothing to get too excited about.

It makes sense that they had to focus the available research and development one way or the other and Ryzen took priority, Now that's done if Ryzen's as good as it seems hopefully research will have the money to make Navi a true player.

I would be more than happy with 1080 level performance for freesync monitors.

We are all John Snow.

HBM2 apparent 50% increase in performance over GDDR5?

IPC 2.75 times higher than Fury? (11 calcs per cycle vs 4)

Other architecture improvements mean?

Clocks? Completely unknown AFAIK.

Just like ryzen was we have no clue what is coming.

I am praying for an epic win 2017 for AMD. One half of the business has delivered and they have been sitting on this graphics until it was ready. It must have really hurt AMD to sit there and just take it while the 1070 and 1080 came out. I think they would have only held on because they need to beat the 1080 and they now know they can beat it and they expect to beat the 1080ti as well.

VR has never failed.

I've nothing against Raja in fact I like his down to earth approach but seriously this event said nothing to AMD customers and Nvidia did. They need to come up with some substance and fast if a 1080Ti really is 1080 + 35% @ $699 available next week.

They can't release anything as they don't have anything to release. Takes a long time to get something like a new gpu to market. AMD being late to the game is hopefully going to force AMD to low-ball their pricing, forcing Nvidia to do the same.
