Hi all,

Been looking for a gaming laptop for a while. I took a temporary break when the NVidia 10xx series cards came out but think a 17" screen with a GTX1060 will suit my needs. I'll be using it for general gaming, but fancy a go at this VR stuff soon...

What's the difference between the CF1 and CF2 versions of the Gigabyte P57w v6?

Any other suggestions in the £1500-1700 price bracket? I could possibly be persuaded to a 15" screen if this helps and I'm not that fussed about 4K... a bluray drive would be nice.

Thanks!

Hi MrFunex,

Sorry for delay, missed this thread/question.

In answer, there isn't a straight answer!

We use the suffix CF1, CF2, CF3, and so on, simply to denote a certain "ConFiguration". On some models, such as P15F and P55W as an example we have 2 models and they are the same hardware spec, but CF1 is Home O/S and CF2 is Pro O/S - as mentioned by MISJAH.... however this isn't a "rule".

With the P57W v6 CF1 and CF2, the difference between these two models is just the ram specification. On the CF1 it uses 2133MHz ram and in the slightly newer CF2 model 2400MHz ram is used.

Hope that clarifies for you,

Regards,
