What I mean - have you decided to reduce the amount of time you spend on your phone? I'm finding myself on my phone a fair amount browsing this and that, wasting time. I'm curious to see if others have taken steps to reduce the time on their phones ?

I know this is a tech forum and most will not give a second thought to their usage.

I have considered downgrading from a flag ship phone to something more basic to remove the constant distraction.

Not so much fallen out with my phone but simply don't feel the need to be on it constantly like a lot of people. e.g. going out with mates for a drink....have a chat etc while the mindless zombies are on snap chat facebook etc it defeats the purpose going out with your mates if you're not even speaking to them!

A couple of times, but more to do with glitchy screens.

I do maintain a policy of no work emails out of office hours and i dont bother with snapbook/facechat.

Would still keep a smartphone though, internet, music, navigation, communication all in one handy package is very handy.

Not fallen out with it. But I make a point to never use it while walking. If I want to check something and it's urgent I will step to the side and check. Then put it back in my pocket and carry on walking.

Rude people walking into me while staring at their phone are very bad mannered. So I won't do it to other people.

It's never been a constant distraction for me. I can take it or leave it and is doesn't bother me at all to leave it at home for the day. I use it when it's useful - satnav, music in the gym, personal email, etc.

Thinking about it, my phone doesn't really entertain me at all, it's just very useful.

sadly I run a business from my persoanl number, tried two differant numbers but it was pointless, I look forward to Fri/Sat evenings as it stops going mad and I can relax a little with a pint

I only really use it a lot if I'm stuck waiting somewhere anyway. Browsing on the PC is the time sink for me.

no and sounds utterly pointless, not only do you lose a powerful device with lots of useful functions, you arent going to acheive anything anyway.
its a time waster, getting rid of it you'll just replace it with another time waster.
just build up you're motivation and do something more interesting instead.

I binned my Facebook account, now I just occasionally hang around Overclockers and browse the BBC news site. My wife serves as a reminder of how much of life can be lost on "social" media, I need to hide her phone or become more interesting :p

I use my phone as a phone, calls and texts and sometimes whatsapp. It has a few games to keep my son entertained when stuck in waiting rooms or going on days out.

I don't have any social media accounts and I mean none of them! and I hate trying to use the OCUK forum on it so doesn't get used much anyway.

the only time I fall out with my phone is when the other half is on the other end :D

Over the last 6 months or so I've been making a conscious effort to spend less time browsing Facebook, reddit and a few other time wasters (and here to a degree but I don't spend much time browsing these days just checking up on certain threads)..

Got many better things to be doing with my time but would never downgrade to a non-smartphone, I use smartphone features too much

I'm the opposite way.
Over the years I've constantly been told off for not looking at my phone for messages that have been sent so a couple of months ago I found a nice app that shows me everything on my lockscreen.
I now and try to remember to press my phone button once an hour to see if anything has happened.

However I'm totally opposite on my PC, I'm never off it and will press F5 a lot.

No. I do question my usage sometimes however, for example over the past three years I would estimate I've probably spent maybe 200 hours browsing property on Rightmove, building up a list of favourite, culling them as they get sold etc despite not being in a position to move yet. It's been useful to get a feel for the market, the sort of prices different properties are marketed/sold at etc, but it would be far more efficient to just leave it alone until the time comes to start searching in anger.
