Taboo - BBC1

What a great ending to the first season, the whole dock combat scene was really well done, it's been renewed for S2 :D

I enjoyed it, I would have been happy for them to leave it as it was, but they left sufficient threads open for more.
The chap he wishes to visit.
Will the chemist survive.
Is the whore madam dead?
Is his sister really dead?
Did Sir Stew wart die?
Will wifey/mother survive?
blah blah blah, nice typical unanswered, which could happily remain unanswered in my view, but we'll get more.

What a superb show!

Even though Tom Hardy was as great and "ticking timebomb" like as always, my real love went to Stephen Graham! What a transformation!

Not to mention Jonathan Pryce..

Absolutely loved every minute of it!

Can only echo everything said here. A truly magnificent piece of drama. That finale was thrill a minute. Cannot wait for series two, which will obviously take on a completely different dynamic, hopefully keeping it fresh.

Great programme. The only thing I didn't believe / understand was that the Crown released him from prison then suddenly decided that actually he should be killed.

Did Sir Stew wart die?

Not sure that's a question :D. I suppose he could have been badly injured, but I'm supposing he died because the chemist was always portrayed as competent.

I think they knew the game was up. The EIC had dropped charges, Delaney had to be freed and they knew that was it for Nootka Sound, they are not getting it in any way. The Prince seems in a permanent state of inebriation, so I think he told Coop to kill him out of pure drunken spite.

I never knew Nootka Sound is a real place.

I do not think I have hated any program more this one. Comic book Tom Hardy seemed more like a demi-god then a real person. This series just seems to be a vanity project. Every week, I thought a real story would emerge, but nothing did.
I only watched this because they filmed at St.Mary's in Wanstead and everyone was talking about it. I have the hump now that everytime i pass that church, its going to remind me of this rubbish.

Looking forward to Series 2. Hardy was fantastic (as always) and the dock fight was a great piece of action.

I want to know where they're going to go with the hodoo voodoo stuff. I'm still unsure whether this is a 'supernatural' period drama or a period drama with a mentally unstable man.

Thought the overall series was good but a little underwhelming for me in the end as i was expecting a big showdown. Guess it just the beginning.

You didn't like it then ? :p Each to there own I guess. For Me it is one of the best things I have watched in ages, along with Game of Thrones and Peaky Blinders.

Eh? No story? I thought there was a very good story to it. Perhaps you not being able to comprehend the story says more about your intelligence than the show itself.

Please do not delude your self that this program pertains to a well crafted story. It was comic book stuff.

Didn't think it was that great tbh. I hope there is a season 2 to expand it a bit more as on it's own it was very poor for the cast they had. Predictable too that he would get away and go to his Island and trade powder for tea, opium, etc. Too short IMO and not enough of a story. Writing was very poor but with very good acting. Thought it was weird his sister killed herself too, she finally got rid of her tool of a husband.
