All hot air until parts start leaking. I think changing the naming convention away from an S model might be a thing but it's not like the Watch where it's also fashion accessory - and note that the Edition version is identical bar the materials, the actual tech is the same across the aluminium, steel and ceramic/gold versions - you'll probably find with the current price increases and maybe a minor price increase in general the biggest capacity versions might creep into the 4 figure territory but the idea of some limited edition version with better tech than the regular ones doesn't hold any water to me.

Do I think if I bought a £300 Chinese phone instead of my iPhone 6 it would still be running flawlessly without any glitches 3 years later as mine currently is? I highly doubt it.

I take it you have had bad experiences of Chinese phones? Or you're trying to justify the whole thing without evidence? The actual electronics of Chinese phones are no different to Western counterparts. The art of designing electronic devices was mastered years ago, anyone can do it. Ok, the iPhone may have a better build, but technically it's no better. A £1000 phone is ludicrous and I seriously hope anyone buying one isn't buying on credit otherwise there is no wonder this country is in a debt crisis.

Nope.

I spend vast amounts on certain items, but these items either hold their value or increase in value (property mainly). A phone will only ever lose money and be replaced within a year.

Just another vanity item for joe blogs on a **** salary.

While I absolutely agree that when you get to ludicrous pricing as £1000 for a phone as to what extra it gives you from say a £600 phone diminishes to minute levels. However for me my phone is the second most used thing after my laptop. I use it for several hours each day so investing money on something I enjoy using and will use for 2-3 years is worth it. Do I think if I bought a £300 Chinese phone instead of my iPhone 6 it would still be running flawlessly without any glitches 3 years later as mine currently is? I highly doubt it.

My wife always insists on iPhones and has an iPhone 6 plus. Honestly my £200 Lenovo P2 is 90% as good as her phone for a fraction of the cost new. Yes her iPhone is better. Just. But it's barely better and mine has some areas where it's actually better than hers; a vastly better battery life, nearly as good build quality, expandable memory, dual SIM, a better quality screen and it charges far more quickly.

I had my last phone for three years and it still ran perfectly. It was a year or two old when i bought it even then. I only changed it because I smashed the screen (and i must have dropped it a hundred times before that). I guess this phone will last a similar time.

So nope. Not a chance of me spending £1k on any phone, especially when it doesn't even have a headphone socket :D. I use it too much to risk damaging or losing something so valuable. I would be terrified taking it on a drinking night out for a start. I would rather buy something cheap and spend the rest on a holiday, towards a better car, or put it into an investment.

probably not, Apple products are well made and last a long time, I've already got an iPhone 7 so I'll probably not bother updating until say the 10 comes out, unless there are some drastic changes or my current phone breaks/gets lost/stolen.

I'm very likely to get one but I will need to see the price first and just how much different it is.

I would buy outright rather than get a contract. I most certainly won't upgrade from a 7 Plus to a 7S Plus.

No. Only just bought a 7 and it's only slightly better than my old Sony Z5C. No aptx, worse battery life, more of a pain access samba shares, lower quality audio, not as water proof. Does also have many plus points though. The controlled apt market being the largest.
