I had forgotten how bad games used to look.

They probably looked a lot better at whatever resolution a 14" portable CRT telly ran at... 480x480ish or something?
Now we can see the textures up-close in all their glorious detail in full HD, yeah they look a bit awful.

remember trying to run the demo of this on my old pentium 200. Because i didnt have a 3d fx card the game just looked like paper mache! one of the few games that actually required a 3dfx card at the time i think!
I've read a user comment saying that you can turn it off in the options. I don't know if this is true or not.

That's right, though someone in the comments section said otherwise. Like I said, I don't know if the fog can be turned off for sure. Personally, I like it, but each to their own.
I have played this one for a few hours. Seems really easy but thats more with the game being developed for pad and using a keyboard/mouse (maybe I should stop "cheating")!

I distinctly remember paying £50 to £60 for this when it first came out for the N64.
A game that gave me huge amounts of motion sickness and thus the cash was wasted.
It was supposed to be a great great game, shame I could not enjoy it.
I think it was one of the larger cartridges for the N64 at the time and IIRC it was actually £70 RRP when I bought it which was mental now I think about it! Bad enough spending that today on a game but I dread to think just how much that would be now taking inflation into account. I think I sold it about a month after I bought/completed it for not much less than I paid thankfully!
The graphics were amazing for the time. I remember being blown away by how amazing the 3D models of the dinosaurs and humans you fought were and how fluid their movement was. Most other games of the time were just 2D rotated sprites like doom or boxy 'legomen' 3D models like the first Quake The weapons were pretty cool as well. I don't think it's something that's going to hold up well compared to more modern titles though. Seems a bit pointless 'remastering' it if all you're going to have is a straight up port.
It's weird. I quite like going back and playing a lot of the older 2D sprite based platform and RPG games (Mario/Zelda/Sonic/etc) but most of the early 3D ones (first person shooters especially) haven't aged well at all unfortunately

Yes, although I liked the first game, the second was/is my favourite. I'm looking forward to the updated version when it arrives.
It's the gaming equivalent of the chav who buys a knackered old Citroen Saxo then spends a fortune trying to turn it into something decent. Just buy a better car to start with
