Anyone else cut their own hair?

I used to until I realised it looked cack.

Go to the hairdressers now. It's a ballache, but my hair looks great. (Matte hair paste into dry hair is the way forward)

I wouldn't personally count clippers as cutting your own hair, I don't see how it's possible for anyone to properly "cut" their own hair. Number 1 on back and sides and mid length on top like I have it would be virtually impossible to blend in.

Clippers - 8 on top and 6 round the sides.

Done that since I was a student 20 years ago!

Cut my own hair for almost 2 years I think after spending £20 a month on the barbers. I've always stuck to the same cut (2 sides/short top) so figured out the lengths on the trimmers and have done it myself since. Takes about 10-15 minutes.

If you are cutting your own hair with scissors, aren't you going to end up with a mullet?

We need pictures.

I cut round the back by gathering the hair in my fingers and using my fingers as a sort of length guard / measure so I know that if I cut the hair down to my fingers, it'll be the right length.

Used to get my wife to do it but she got fed up of it for various reasons.

Will try and get some pics later ;).

I've tried to tidy it up after I noticed the barbers missed a few stray hairs on my crown, and it was a nightmare trying to coordinate my hands to make the scissors go where I wanted when looking in the mirror, I kept going the wrong way :D

Fair play to those that do I guess

It does take a little coordination and training of the muscles to get good at it.

Another clippers guy here, been so for about 7-8 years now, once I noticed the whole friar Tuck look was getting out of hand. On the subject of the hoovering up afterwards, it's never traumatic, it's joy there's still so much still growing!!!!

my ex gf does mine (thinning scissors) and i have terrible hair ,typical 1970s i think ,gets very dry (surfing dosnt help) afew greys around the temple but discovered the awesome colour wow touch up (how manly am i)

Clippers; 1 sides and back and then shift up a grade ending up around 8 on top. Still have a full head of hair albeit greying at the sides but it looks an absolute state when I'm finished but I couldn't care less.

I'm not a fan of having my bonce being touched and massively disliked the feeling when the barber combed against the grain when being cut.

cutting your hair with scissors, it must look an absolute mess.
its "hard" enough with clippers, you have to go all over about 10 times just to ensure you don't miss a spot on the back of your head.
let alone all cack handed behind your head trying to cut it to the right and graded ength with scissors.

Surprising how many people clipper all over grade 1 or 0! I'm 0 all over every 2-3 weeks or so

There's a lot more baldies on here than I expected. I don't cut my own hair, but I really don't see how you can and have it look good with scissors.

The trick is using 2 mirrors for doing the back. I can do a pretty decent short back and sides, although it takes longer than a barber.
