Would you like to go back to life without mobiles?
Being an child of 70,s i can remember before mobiles and i honestly think life was easier then, people were happier. Could you go back, or imagine life without? (For all you whippersnappers)

Ah the good old days. Ringing the girlfriend in a **** infested phone box, not been able to message her every 5 mins or track her movements incase she was cheating on me.

Yer was simpler but not better. I'd personally not go back to the 70s.

rose tinted glasses and trying to fit all your issues on one device.

hell no, smart phones make life so much easier, it is not the cause of your issues.

"people were happier"

probably one of the dumbest lines i hear repeated by old people way too often.

i don't know about the OP but i'm lucky not to have someone holding me at gunpoint, forcing me to use a mobile, so disconnect and leave the phone behind as often as possible. all the benefits of mobiles when i want them, and none of the downsides of mobiles when i don't want them.

life without mobiles is still very much possible.

Born 1981 I spent most of my life even from a fairly young age in anticipation of the days of having a device like my Galaxy Note phones - so no hurry to go back to the days before smartphones. (As a kid I spent a lot of time modifying Casio databanks, etc. while my friends were running around pretending to be Batman or whatever).

Better now, can play games on phone, take photos, capture crimes in action. I vaguely can remember rotary phones also, yellow pages, teletext, JR Hartley, phone boxes, hand held maps.

I'm a bit younger but, always remember my parents having mobiles but, couldn't imagine not having a phone. I imagine when I'm older i will say something along the lines of "we only had a phone that could ring, text and Facebook, none of this modern nonsense."

Yes - I genuinely pity kids growing up now with 24hour media shoved down their throats and constant "noise" from social media.
I'm incredibly glad I grew up in the 80s/90s and would do it all over again quite happily!

No.

Being an child of 70,s i can remember before mobiles

Being born in 1990, me too.

and i honestly think life was easier then,

It wasn't. Need information? It was a pain in the arse. Need to contact someone? It was a pain in the arse. Car broken down at night in the country? You had to go for a long dark walk to the nearest village. Where's your car? No idea...

people were happier.

They were miserable and had bad taste. Just look at 70s houses. What's up with that weird weatherboarding on the 1st floor?

Could you go back,

No, but you're more then welcome to.

or imagine life without?

Yes, it would be miserable.

I get the point and yes i could. Maybe to the old Nokia days before smart phones. That way you still have emergency calls and texts but not basically the whole county glued to their phones.

Actually, thinking about it my issue really is all the social media. People spreading misinformation on it, constant posts from people sharing a picture of their food or letting you know they just arrived at Costa etc. Although i could just not use them myself it wouldn't stop the rest of the world droning about using it. So yeah, back to a time before Facebook/Twitter/Snapchat/Instagram lol

Is it the technology, or it it certain people you don't want nagging you seemingly 24/7? I have one person in my contact list who sometimes drives me nuts, often talking absolute drivvle, for up to ~60 minutes. Sometimes, I don't hear the phone ringing, or I have left the phone on my desk while doing something else.;)

I have a hip and trendy Ulcool v11 mobile, it sends/receives calls and texts and everything.;)

I have a Nexus 7 2013 tablet to do interweb surfing on the move with BT hotspots.

Make your gadgets your slaves, don't be a slave to your gadgets.

I think my first mobile phone was in 1999...

Surely (and I don't mean to be rude) but you're the problem, not the social media? I'm on most networks, but I don't think I see anyone's lunch, pretty much ever. I don't get told when they arrive at places.

I never really get this whole 'I hate Facebook because it saps all of my time.' That's 'you' not Facebook. I'm on Facebook and go on it maybe a couple of times a week, probably for no longer than 2 or 3 minutes... It doesn't sap time, you decide to spend that time on it, but people love to blame FB.

Definitely wouldn't go back to without a mobile. Even that seems a silly question. If you think it was better... sell you're phone! It's your choice!

The only thing about mobiles the really irritates me is when there is a decent discussion about the merits of x down the pub, then someone whips out their phone & googles the answer. BAM conversation over :(

Not rude mate as you completely misread my post lol. My point isn't that it takes up my time, it's that it takes up the majority of people's time. Where you might have chatted around a coffee machine before you instead have people's faces buried into their phones, same in other areas.

Really wasn't. Wasted so much time waiting for people. Far handier being able to contact people and find places easily. Sending an email is so much handier than a fax or a letter. Great for music, podcasts and as a media player.

People are too obsessed with them though. Social media. Need to put it down and interact with the real world, and quality time on things. But that is not the phones fault, that because they have the attention span of a goldfish. Short attention span is a problem for many though.

I'm not a big user of social media. I unfriend people who just post endless drivel. I unsubscribe for anything that is too spammy. I don't game on it much though.
