Windows 10

All these insider builds seem to have ruined my nice solid install from 2012. I might have to re-image the drive and update again. I thought it was due to a dodgy build but as this is supposed to be the final build.

Also updated this afternoon, just to be safe i disconnected all my slave HDD's and left C, and all installed fine. But i'm left with crappy folders on C drive, like $GetCurrent $WINDOWS.~BT Windows.old Windows10Upgrade any idea what to do with those, is it safe to delete.

If you run diskcleanup and use the system files option there should be an entry there to remove old windows install files which should remove those safely IIRC.

Some good under the hood changes and nice to see, albeit way too slowly, they are starting to exploit the potential of the new start menu system rather than just the model they envision people using.

Shame they are still being utterly retarded over automatic and driver updates and haven't made it easier to control the level of privacy and default services via a slider or something.

The new Defender is better, but this is annoying, it reports an "issue" if you have a device driver or device disabled in Device Manager. I use Cisco AnyConnect for VPN access to work, and when the VPN is not active, it disables itself in Device Manager, and enables itself when I connect. Obviously Defender doesn't like seeing it disabled... I want to be able to whitelist AnyConnect so Defender stops this nonsense, but no whitelist function can be found...

I see the modern "apps & features" is now the default... let's hope they make better use of the space before removing the classic "programs & features".

One of the MS pages is stating , if you don't want to wait, install the creators update assistant now, and install the update.

Is this the release build, final build that they'll launch, or is there another batch/patch/build to come?

Tried upgrading but it got stuck in a bootloop on the Customise Windows screen so I did a clean reinstall. Current issues: BSODs when waking from sleep, but I think I've tracked that down to the LAN drivers which I've disabled so fingers crossed. However, the most annoying thing is whenever I exit a fullscreen game the colours red & blue become transposed! Doesn't happen during gameplay, or if I task switch; happens exactly as I exit the game! (corrupted/bad memory management?) Nought in event log so I'll have to muck around I guess - doesn't crash either. #sigh

Edit: Just worked out how to turn off GameMode - tried Elite Dangerous - colours fine so looks like that was the cause.

I have the same problem - hopefully they will fix this soon with an update?????

I don't seem to be able to find any method of escaping the homegroup, in fact doing anything with the homegroup, nothing seems to function, even the trouble shooter just says can't find issue and on it goes.

Oh, I've had that after the last major update, where the option to leave the homegroup isn't there. Sorry, I can't remember how I got rid of it, but there was a directory of authentication data that had to be deleted after something was disabled. If you do some googling, the answer is out there. This is the sort of thing I did.
