***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Over four years ago I was using 3x 1920x1080 30Hz monitors, and then I downgraded to a single 47" 1080p 60Hz HDTV when I moved into my own place.
Now, for the last three days I've been using that TV, and a ASUS PG348Q monitor.

OMFG! Absolutely love this UW monitor! this should be the new standard for all PC gamers, its awesome. Its pretty much two screens in one... + I have the TV as 2nd screen

I had a dell 34 UW and replaced it with an X34 and it was well worth the extra £300. One of the best tech buys I have made in a long time.

Absolutely agree, UW and G-Sync are the best things to happen to PC's for years.

IMO not worth anywhere close to that:

- using an extremely old panel now
- complete rip of for a basic old LCD panel that is being pushed to its max to achieve 100HZ and as a result will either have scanline artifact issues under certain conditions as well as coil whine (obviously this is down to your hearing, generally the older you are, the less likely you are to hear it)
- panel lottery with regards to either backlight bleed and/or severe IPS glow issues

Essentially you are paying for gsync tax and 100HZ (of which you might not even get anyway, most have to settle with 80-95HZ)

If you have the room and don't mind 21ms of input lag as well as the lack of gsync, cough up the extra £500 to get a far superior display in every other way i.e. OLED 55" 4k HDR TV

Got a BenQ XR3501 35" 1080p 144Hz curved monitor today, it was on sale for £390 so couldn't really resist. It is epic, I know it's not up there with some of the purchases on here but christ...it's beautiful! There is no way I could go back to 16:9 now, who ever said girth was what mattered?!

How are you guys finding support on modern games? I've only really tested it out with Rebel Galaxy, and then Skyrim with the Flawless fix.

It's not really an issue for me, I can't see any unless I get quite close up to the screen. It is what it is, a cheap way in to ultrawide.

Also there is obviously a mild budget difference between the kit to run a 1440/4k monitor (and buy one!) compared to my setup so as it's not an option anyway I'm very happy with it!

yeah, I have 24" 1920x1200 so if I move to UW I'd want to keep it to around that PPI, 29" 1080p UW is fine by the looks of pixel calculator, but 29" is too short vertically but 34" 1080p won't be for both. It'll be fine for console gaming like sitting further back, but I don't think it'll be great for closer use, desktop and finer detail. But then you've got big GPU overhead on 34" 1440p
 
I haven't played a game released in the last two or three years that doesn't have at least some support. Cutscenes are still made for 1080p but that's no big deal for me. Most games should support it natively unless you're ********* like Blizzard.
