More brilliance from labour, the student who introduced corbyn at the local election launch has her resignation accepted by the labour party after her racist and antisemitic tweets came to light.

The ability of the party to shoot itself in both feet today has been amazing.
If this was a ukip supporter there would be be wall to wall TV coverage of this.

But it's labour so they choose to sweep it under the carpet.

I think that thanks to Facebook, twitter etc.. there is going to be dirt on pretty much every potential senior politicians in years to come - granted I don't expect most will have the outright unambiguous racist statements that this little bitch was airing but I'd suspect there will be plenty of other dirt to make for embarrassing news stories.

I don't think the posts of children should be held against the adults they become.

They wgere 14 when they wrote them :/

We all say stupid **** as kids

I was not a racist nor an anti-Semite at fourteen, there's saying stupid stuff and there's being hateful.

To be fair, the antisemitism isn't really a problem for Labour, it fits in just fine.

What else has happened?

It is so depressing being out and about to be confronted with a gaffe you know nothing about.

Corbyn saying he wouldn't resign if he lost, then banning the news site that published the interview from labour events and denying it happened, even when they released the audio.

Corbyn failing to answer 6 times when asked if, with brexit settled according to him, the UK would definitely be leaving the EU under a labour government (forcing the party to put out a press statement confirming the party position).

Labour central office parachuting a member of Len mccluskys staff into the safest labour seat in the UK in Liverpool, leading to a severe backlash including resignation of the local association chair and a statement from the mayor.

The Greens savaging the idea of a progressive alliance and vowing to fight all seats after labour started suspending people for supporting other progressive candidates more likely to win.

The list of failure was epic.

Perhaps I'm mistaken but I'm sure I read the same article years ago? I've definitely read the chickens and rice comment before.

It even says the tweets were from 2012 and 2014.

Perhaps I am confused with a similar story but it seems eerily familiar.... maybe it was a similar story with a student union head or something.

Haha now fox hunting has reared its head again. Just shows they have their priorities all wrong. I'd agree with a humane cull to manage numbers but this is just ridiculous given public opinion on the matter.

Wolf in sheep's clothing comes to mind. ;)

May didn't raise it. She was asked a question on it and answered with the Tory party line. She hasn't said it is a priority or even if it is on the manifesto as far as I know.

Ahh heard it mentioned on LBC. Wondered why it wasn't front page elsewhere... I wouldn't be surprised if she pursues it after election though.

Probably more there to placate rural MP backbenchers. It isn't like there has been a sniff of a free vote the last two years.

Smoke and mirrors. People will no spend a week talking about fox hunting rather than more important issues like, I dont know, the economy, Brexit, the NHS, education, police etc.

I despise fox hunting and I'm happy that it's currently banned, however the fact Blair banned it undemocratically and against huge public opposition (it's the second most unpopular thing the government has done this century, the first being the Iraq war) never sat well with me and so I'm open to it actually being debated/decided by parliament. If you support democracy that means you support it even when it results in things you dislike, otherwise what's the point.

A recent opinion poll suggested that 84% of people were in favour of the ban. Has public opinion changed so much in the last decade?
