***The Official Wonder Woman Thread***

She speaks 100s of languages... So it's said.

Accents are bad on most of the characters you soon forget it.

Saw it this afternoon and left the cinema totally gutted. Was hoping for so much more but DC strikes again...POOR writing, some awful casting (everyone other than Gal Gadot and Chris Pine were just terrible), too long, mostly rubbish attempts at humor apart, some standout awful CGI. GUTTED. Wanted it to be so much more. They say it's the best DC film so far...but that doesn't really mean a lot does it. A few jarring moments that contradict the characters and what they are meant to portray too.

3/4 of the actions scenes were decent, but the end is just trash. 4/10. What a wasted opportunity.

Her accent makes sense (as per point above), so don't worry about that.

DC films compared to marvel just suck balls... I dunno how they can't get it right.

It started out so well then at one point, it just got bad and never recovered. Its still worth a watch but, yeah....

Said that on the last page :p, their movies are overproduced and average, it seems like everyone that can have a say does (mainly suits it would seem) and it just muddies the waters.

Nolans trilogy included?..still very much under DC and Warner etc.
Some are trying to go out of there way to hate this movie it feels more like.
Dont even get me started how everything with the Marvel has fallen apart.. from not feeling once they where in any danger...no good bad guys..no chronological sense in the overall pictures etc.

Quite enjoyed this up until the last fight...

...which pretty much trashed the film for me.

There was far too much cheesy dialogue in what is supposed to be a battle to the death and I could never look past that it was Professor Lupin in a suit and he would not shut up.

On reflection wonder woman herself and her back story was really good. It was just the supporting cast of characters, baddies an d mad scientist that let it down for me.
It was a good story but just a bit too cliché.

The humour I was not expecting. A lot of people in the cinema were laughing. I grew up watching WW on TV my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Just don't think too much about it The battles and fight scenes in Dolby atmos are amazing. I saw it in 2D xplus I felt I didn't miss out on 3D. It was still immersive.

Firstly, it's by far the best DC movie. I didn't particularly like Man of Steel or Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice but they had a few decent moments, whereas Suicide Squad was just bad throughout.

Not being a comic book reader, I really didn't know much about the backstory of Wonderwoman. Franky the whole premise is pretty ludicrous with the hidden island of Themyscira, The Amazonians, Greek Gods etc but I think they just about managed to carry it off without it coming across as cheesy.

Based on past performances I wasn't sure Gal Gadot would be able to carry the movie, but she was better than expected. Don't get me wrong, she was one of the better things about Batman vs Superman but I find her accent to be quite strong in interviews so thought I might struggle to understand some of the dialogue but didn't have an issue. There's a few wobbles and cheesy moments (particularly) towards the end but she's helped massively by a strong supporting cast. Chris Pine is really good and is involved with a lot of the humour in the movie, though my girlfriend thought it was funnier than I did. The rest of the 'team' (as shown in that old 1918 photo) do get short shrift but they mostly manage to leave an impression at least, even though it felt like some scenes must be cut - I had no idea what Ewen Bremners character arc was all about:

He's a drunken crack shot sniper, haunted by ghosts who it turns out can't bring himself to shoot anyone. But there's no resolution other than he starts singing again?

The movie does have some surprises in store though:
Diana being the 'God killer' was obvious as soon as it was mentioned in the opening section. Danny Huston not being Aries was too obvious. I actually thought it would turn out to be the female chemist (even though that wouldn't make much sense) so the fact it was David Thewlis character was a surprise. As soon as he started putting on makeshift armour and they started fighting it all got ridiculous though

So the last 15 minutes are a let down, and it descends in to a proper cheese fest but overall it's a decent movie.

By the way, I saw it yesterday at the biggest screen of my local Odeon at 8 p.m and it was dead. Approx 50 people in a cinema that seats 400+

Considering it was opening night of a blockbuster movie, that alone is pretty weird (As a comparison, Guardians Of the Galaxy: Vol 2 was almost sold out in the same screen on opening night)

Just got back.

The one thing that comes to mind when watching this movie, Gal Gadot radiates off the screen in every scene, she just stands out amongst everyone, even when she dress like in all black.

As for the movie itself, bar a few, and there are quite a few cliche moments (including the final act, and villain), I like it. It's no Winter Solider, which for me sets the bar as the best comic book movie to date. This is pretty good, I enjoyed it throughout.

I can't wait for Justice League now.

p.s. I know nothing of Wonder Women besides a 6min breakdown on Watchmojo.com on Youtube this week, now I want to know more.

Watch the 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie. This is how it should have went. I still enjoyed it but the comic book nerd in me was a little disappointed in the finale for me was weak.

The ending would have been better with a
giant mythical monster or some larger than life threat. Aries was awful and that made up lightning crap was bad. Very lazy cope out to a decent build up.

I can overlook the crappy 10min fight scene over the good of the rest of the movie.

No end credit scenes though, plenty of people stayed behind hoping there was one.

Watched it this morning and enjoyed it, had the right mix of action and comedy, even if the whole finally awaking her powers sempt cliche it's possibly the best DC film to date so far.

Thought they might be a after credits scene between the fancy graphics and fade to black but nope.

I was dragged to this and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm not going to bore you all to death with a long post but:

I thought that up until and including the trenches action sequence this was 5/5 in terms of superhero films. The leads were likeable. WW herself was a badass but not in a dumb 'sex icon' sort of way. I don't think her portrayal was aimed to please lustful men, if you get me. Tasteful.

Somewhere around the Gala everything then didn't turn bad exactly but felt a bit rushed and lost some charm. Perhaps that's just because we had the payoff of WW being bad ass and at this point we were presumably at the 1:40 mark. 3/5 from this point.

My only other comments, because I CBA, are:

Totally nailed who the bad guy was and that she was the weapon.

The theme song thing was just... eh. I'm pretty sure they played it in Batman vs Superman. Didn't work and sounded silly.

The whole time I was hoping Kratos would show up. I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!!! :D

My rating : 8/10
Company's : 8.5/10
