Post your double din installs

All wires routed and now working! :D

Installed my camera. Just finished wiring it into the reverse light. Screws now fitted.

Some cars will be fine with that, but some will have a problem with powering the light and the camera at the same time. My car wasn't happy with it. If it does work then it's all good but if not then the best way is probably with a relay to use the reverse light as a trigger to switch the relay on which turns the camera power on with another power source.

Where's the best place to find surrounds for something like the above? I presume that's what i would need coming from an old vw RNS double din radio/cd player.

*edit Reading a review on the halfords website appears it might not need a surround, i'm such a noob when it comes to radio installs, give me a spanner and i'm ok but limited experience with tech installs!

Dynamic Sounds is where I got the double din adaptor for my MK6 Golf, take a look on their website and put in your car details etc.

Hope this helps

Cheers all

What kind of tools do you need to fit these generally? I'm toying with the idea of getting the JVC above to replace the ageing system in my Mazda 2, unless there is anything obviously better in the general price range. Going to order the Fascia kit and steering wheel control adaptor. I don't think I need anything out of the ordinary to get the old one out other than dismantling various panels, removing screws etc, do you need anything for the wiring?

depending on the radio you may need 4 narrow shaft screwdrivers, or 2 thin knives. anything else will be car specific but normally nothing mad unless you need to take the dash apart.

Be quick and get the JVC it's a great unit.

Cheers AdolfHamster and Easyrider :). I've snapped, bought the unit. End up costing £260.10 + £64 for the fascia/steering connectors. Not too bad! If I get it by the weekend I'll try and show the pain and suffering I go through during the fitting...

I don't understand why lots of these nice double dins don't have a dab tuner as standard. dab has been around for years yet you still have to pay a premium for it. (or if they do, why isn't it advertised)

This is putting me off buying the JVC unit! DAB is hardly a luxury nowadays.

Unless you want to listen to stations only available on DAB I see no reason to get it.

FM is more than adequate for a car IMO

I mainly stream from Spotify and apple music.

The sound quality is superior on DAB channels also available on FM. I agree though if you don't particularly use the radio then there's no real reason for a DAB tuner. It just feels to me that nowadays, it should be a standard feature.

Personally I like to listen to absolute 80's and 90's so DAB is a must :)

If you have an iPhone the Tunein Radio app supports CarPlay and has those stations
