Xbox Scorpio

I hope it does well because healthy competition ultimately benefits gamers with better games but nothing in that presentation was screaming 'wow I must buy one of these to play that' to me. Sure I have a gaming PC so probably not the intended audience but $500 will put a lot of people off and for the average consumer the price difference to a PS4 Pro (however much the performance difference turns out to be) will make a lot of people stop and think when coming to pick up a console and I'm not sure they have many truly amazing exclusives to push it over the line and make people decide on the Xbox. Hopefully the performance is as good as they said though so improvements filter through to PS4 Pro and PC with time.

Looks good, but will most likely wait till 2018 and decide if I buy one, buy that time they might have more exclusive games that interest me to buy one. And having just purchased a Oppo 203, the 4k player in the xbox for movies does not interest me at all now.

Not sure looking at it from how many xbox s's you can buy for £450 is the way to look at it and is a very poor way of measuring it. If your in the market for a 4K console, your not buying xbox s or Ps4....... There is only 2 you can compare, PS4 Pro vs Xbox X which to be fair you have but you need to take it further.

So the real question should be is Xbox X worth £100 more than a PS4 Pro, spec wise yes it is, I might be wrong but i don't believe there is any AAA new titles on PS4 pro that are true 4k, they all seems to be 1080p - 1440p, up-scaled.

Not only did Xbox show games running true 4K, with Forza it was also 4k textures, 4k assets at 60FPS. I would need at least a £500 GPU for my PC to do that, so for many its a great all in one box. Are the games worth it well that's up to each of us to make that choice but they did show 22 titles that will not appear on PS4, so if you only have a console that could swing it for you.

Which means absolutely nothing if there isn't any games to play on it. Sure they have multi plats but they already look stunning on the ps4/pro so what do they have to move someone like me over ?

I am interested, I will probably pre order as I do need something to go with my new TV but I do want some new exclusives or I can see it being a media device only.

They should look/run better on the X.

Other than that I guess it depends on whether you see any value in the MS exclusive games, BC stuff and whether you'd use the UHD player.

I only have a PS4 slim and only recently learnt it couldn't stream 4k so I would at least use it for that.

On a side note tho, the console itself is stunning and ridiculously small.

Yeah good point, the X will be able to stream 4K as well.

Agree on the size, I thought we'd be seeing a return to the original form which was quite large, amazing how they've done it inside a chassis smaller than the S!

I saw nothing that said I should buy one of these. Virtually all of the games are multi platform. And what's with the "console launch exclusive" nonsense? They've just used that term instead of "timed exclusive" to try and fool people into thinking it's a proper exclusive.

I wonder how long "console launch exclusive" actually is. They could have done with locking Player Unknowns for a good year in all honestly, that game will be huge. I imagine it's a 3 month or similar length window.

How do they not have any games on it?

Multi plats is a no score draw between XBOX and PS4, even removing that they may run much better on one over the other its the same game. However, they showed 22 only on xbox games that you cannot get on the PS4, so if you only have a console that's a lot of games. So i can only take it what you mean is, they did not show any games that you like or want?, which is not the same as not having any games. I saw lots of games i like, but the issue for me, i have a PC so will likely get them on that, but if i had to buy only a console the XBOX X looks very, very good.

I've not long had an S at a really good price, I'm not immediately desperate for an X so I'll be happy to wait it out until a price drop or a sale. Overall I can't complain about MS conference, showcased the X at a reasonable price given the specs, 22 Exclusive games and Xbox backwards compatibility. They focused on the games which is something we've been demanding and they delivered.

What are these 22 exclusive games? I watched it and heard "Launch exclusive" banded about numerous times, Polygon are reporting it as console exclusive and others different.

it was a mix of AAA and indie titles....but off the top of my head 3 first party ones spring to mind would be Forza 7 the first game they showed, so not sure how you missed it, crackdown 3, not a fan but it did have Terry at the start and sea of thieves which looked wicked. State of decay 2 is also one but not sure if its moved from indie to AAA following the sales of the first and the scope of the new one, Ori and the will of the wisp another game and the first game was amazing. that is off the top of my head, but Phil at the start said 42 games to show 22 only on.

makes me laugh people moaning about the price yet think nothing of spending £500 plus on the latest graphics card :o:o

Of course, that's always been the case on here. Especially the people who only keep the GPU for 10 months to spend another £500 plus on a slightly higher clocked model.

I must be the target audience as I think the price is reasonable, I have a 4k TV and don't have a gaming PC (and don't really want to get one, although I was tempted to get one for PUBG but now that's coming to Xbox, I don't need to bother). It's pre-order for me.

Will the Xbox X one be in plentiful supply for this Christmas as that's what I want this year. I got a ps4 pro last year and with my Samsung 49"KS7000 I'm in gaming heaven. I also own the Xbox one and 360.

Pre-Orders go live tomorrow apparently.. Apparently production has already started so I imagine if that's the case stock levels will be good.

I'm rebuilding and upgrading my PC into a smaller case for the living room rather than look at Scorpio, tbh. This could be a great point to jump in for people who aren't willing to splash the cash or put up with the hassle of maintaining a PC, though.
