He's just asking if you are aware of every single law out there.

There are loads of laws out there which people AND police are completely and utterly ignorant to and have NO idea of their existence.

Like did you know it's illegal to loiter on the threshold of a pedestrian crossings. Yet I see it happening pretty much every single time I go for a drive.

Congratulations, you have personified the colour beige :p

haha, ok clarke Kent riddle me this.
i assume that you are a law abiding man/ woman/citizen.
and as such will want to abide to all the laws in your vicinity at all times. and i assume that probably you have heard the saying ignorance of the law is no excuse.
so with that said, how many laws are in effect in england as of today? and have you conformed to them all? if not you may want to keep stum on that.:) tia

I think pooley is trying to make a point about the number of laws that are in force. If that's the case, then it's a reasonable point. There are lots of laws on the statute book and they're always changing - it's difficult to keep up. Young people often have no input at school about the justice system and laws that they should know about. Whilst much of it is common sense and decency, there are bits that aren't; the "citizen's arrest" is something that is quite technical yet (as far as I know) isn't taught to everyone.

You mean it isn't as simple as assaulting someone, tying them up and shouting 'CITIZENS ARREST' really loud before you phone the police later?

"The dup want to see the BBC lose its anachronistic licence tax. Theresa May should agree to that. It is a cancer on the body politic."

Can't imagine tories would let that happen.
Actually, since I see they're gating the iplayer behind a BBC account, nows the time I can finally stop paying my tv licence. Will have to be content with my downloaded archive of their radio comedies.

Hope you're prepared for the letter spam & visitors hehe.

Ah - do you get mega spammed by the TV licencing company?

I guess its far too optimistic to hope that you just send off a single "I have no TV" letter and leave it at that :(.

Spammed big time.
I've shown them in a previous address years ago & this one a few years back that I had no tv/radio. It went silent for a short while & then it continued all over again.
You may get lucky, but unlikely ;)

Vaguely recall others stating they've cancelled & informed them, only to get the visits regardless.

you get a letter every month or so, it says tv license on it so can just go in the bin

Not all of them. Some are sneaky brown envelopes where you think "Oh *******!, what now!?" or plain white one where you think "Hruh, bank perhaps?" only to open them & turn the air blue

GD recommends These.

I can recommend these; have one downstairs in my house. Though when they break, well...it isn't pretty
Last time the missus put one of her monthly products down it (taking that apart wasn't my idea of fun, so I just replaced the unit!); so I'm not going to volunteer to test it out as a letter shredder :p

I have just had a letter through, not addressed to anyone just says dear sir/madam. You need to tell us if you still don't require a license. I have told them once they can do one now.

Although they seem to think that 2 years only has 18 months in them, it really is easier to log to their site and give no details other then "I don't need a licence" then to take their spam mail to the bin every week.

I like that they state "You need to tell us if you still don't require a license."

No you don't, you only need to inform them if you're watching tv without a license.

Had one few weeks back, still no visitors appeared.
