2017 Holiday Thread

I'm thinking of flying into Budapest and out of Athens. Spend 3 weeks working my way down. Anyone done anything similar? I'd be leaving first couple of days in April.

Just booked my holiday. Flying into Budapest on April 1st, and out of Sofia on the 19th. Should be a good trip I think.

The sure sign of middle age: we've booked to go back to two hotels we've been to before. Tuscany in June and then Algave in September. With a young child, it's just easier to go somewhere we know and loved before.

We've done Bangkok which is why we've decided to only do a couple of nights this time, perhaps with a third on route back to the UK. Yet to book a hotel so shall look at the Hotel Royal Bangkok @ Chinatown - cheers.

We're now looking at Cambodia for the rest of the holiday - although doesn't meet our criteria of beachy as we'd do a lot of touring!! Still open to ideas for Thailand locations :)

I've heard from 2 or 3 people that Cambodia is one of the nicest countries in the far east, i really want to visit there myself.

Assuming we're only talking about non-UK holidays:

- Did Copenhagen in Jan
- Bansko for skiing in two days
- Warsaw some time in May for a long weekend
- Majorca family thing for a week in June
- Shanghai for 2-3 weeks in October/November
- Dubai at some point for 4/5 nights

Got lots to look forward to, especially China!

Got 10 days in Majorca, fully inclusive with myself and my 10 year old daughter in august for £900 :)

Amazing value.

Just paid £2500 for me, my wife and two young daughters to go to the Sol Dunas in Cape Verde in May, two weeks. I've been before and for an AI holiday its fantastic.

Can get windy mind you.

6 hour flight with a 3 and a 2 year old...is it frowned upon to sit them at the back of the plane and me at the front ?

Might aswell put this in here im after something to carry travel documents around so I can carry passport, hotel confirmations, visas, and other bit all in one any ideas?

Off to Cayo Coco Cuba for 14 days all inclusive with the step mom at the end of august.

LA/Vegas for 2 weeks in July with a mate. Spending ridiculous amounts but we decided to go all out before starting our graduate jobs in September.

We spent May half term in Llandudno with the mother in law. She'd booked a fancy house for us all to stay in and she paid for it, so that didn't hurt. Weather was patchy and there was a bit of tension between my mrs and her mum, deep joy :p We got up the Orme on the cable car, down the mines, round Conwy, on the beach, in the lido... I got out for a couple of bike rides. Pretty good all told.

We're going to Denmark in August for four nights. My eldest is going to secondary school in September and I wanted to get her along to legoland before she's too cool to enjoy it. We're flying to Copenhagen and staying two nights in an apartment and we'll see what the city has for us. The apartment costs a bit, but compared to hotels it's not that bad and it gives us the freedom to cook our own food and whatnot. On day 3 we get a train to billund - booking the train tickets is one of the last things I need to do. We're there for two nights, staying in a little Wild West themed cabin thing, with two days entry to the park. Pricey again, but what can you do. Day 5 we get the train back to Copenhagen and fly home. I'm looking forward to it, I've not been abroad in ages, and I'm really hoping the kids like it. The whole thing will weigh in at over two grand so at ~£500 a day it better be good! We tried organising it via a travel agent but they couldn't put it together. They could do the city break end of things, and I think they could do it if you went straight to billund, but computer said no when it came to joining things up and putting a train in the middle. I've ended up piecing it together myself and booking the individual bits myself.

Being single and renting a property by myself doesn't leave me with a huge amount of money left to think about holidays, so this year my only plan is to head to Bristol to do a ToughMudder event - that trip alone will likely cost £300+ for the weekend!

Ahh how circumstances change, a promotion at work and a bonus mean I'm heading to Thailand for 10 nights to train Muay Thai kickboxing, when I land back in London on Friday I hop on the train to Bristol to do the ToughMudder on the Saturday :)

I'm off to to a secluded part of C'an Picafort, Majorca. First time we've been back somewhere the following year. Very peaceful location and not the usual hustle of family holidays so can't wait.

Got a villa booked in Lanzarote, Playa Blanca for £1400 for a fortnight flying out on the Wednesday 19th July which means pulling my 2 kids 12 & 13 out of school for 3 days.

If i booked it for Saturday 22nd July, the start of the school holidays, the holiday would have cost £1700 more.

Driving to Italy with my brother, sister and her BF in September. Can't wait to be honest. There are 8 of us going in total but the other 4 are flying to Milan then hiring a car from there.

Off to Florence and Rome with the Wife and in laws in Oct. (Don't like it too hot for sight seeing holidays)

Will be the first time her dad has ever left the country (55) and 30 years since her mum was last abroad.

Looking forward to it.
