Blogger dies via cream dispenser

'twas a bit unlucky...

Though the faulty ones do seem quite dodgy and go off with a bit of a bang!

The injuries caused range from broken teeth and tinnitus to multiple fractures and, in one case, the loss of an eye, consumer magazine 60 Millions said. But the magazine says new dispensers made since 2015 appear to be safe.

In 2013, one victim of an exploding cream dispenser told RTL radio: "I had six broken ribs, and my sternum was broken.

I read this story earlier and I am confused as to how you can die from this? How did she manage to bang it into her chest hard enough to cause her death? Footballers take a ball to the chest frequently yet they seem
Okay...

quite possibly because a ball has a large volume and the impact is spread over a large area.

ever taken one to the face? it shocks you a little bit but doesn't really hurt that much.

when I was a teen at a community centre i was walking through the doors where people were playing indoor football and took one to the face just as the doors opened :@

It sounds like the gas canister connection is dodgy and can become detached. If it shoots off at high pressure then it can be moving very fast.

It says she died of a cardiac arrest, so I guess if that cannister whacked her in the chest it could have caused some kind of arrythmia?

Like I said....'twas a bit unlucky...

And here I was thinking you were a sportsman in earlier years and often took balls to the face when in fact you just managed to walk through a door and walked into a flying ball!

I am sure that I read somewhere a while ago that there is a brief moment during the regular heart beat cycle where the rhythm can be disrupted by a sharp impact on the chest. Sadly, apart from this, there would likely have been little wrong with her. I am surprised that they were not able to revive her, but then the report doesn't state how long the medical attention took to arrive :/

Well it would be pretty obvious if she died of breathing it or getting struck by it. Getting stuck by a metal canister like that would leave at least a small bruise. If there was cream in the container then she was obviously cooking, if not then she was using it for something else.

Regardless, those cheaper dispensers are awful, the plastic canister cap thread wears away very easily (is also under a fair amount of stress due to physical force and sudden extreme temperature changes) and so if you used it enough, i can see how the accident occurred. I have one and cocked up inserting the gas canister a few times, which leads to wasting a capsule by breaking the seal before it is screwed in that results in normally almost burning myself from the cold gas or the plastic cap being flung off with the canister. Its a very unlucky accident.

Holy **** lol... seems those things can pack a punch.

BRB never using cream dispenser.

no-one thinks the actual NOS killed her, the canister has hit her by the looks of things. We're just curious as to whether she was actually making Chantilly cream or making balloons.

I'm pretty sure they use the same co2 cartridges as air pistols. I use the same ones to inflate bicycle tyres.

well unless its not co2 in there can confirm that it looks exactly like the standard co2 capsules used in airsoft for various purposes

there's a fair bit of power (look up hakkotsu thunder b for an example) in those things but i didn't think it could be that deadly

the walls of those capsules are scary thin too, once cut an empty one open to try and make a spacer for my thunder b (to prevent a g-shock causing a discharge)
