*** Nintendo Switch ***

So it was the wee man's birthday at the weekend so we finally got his Switch setup. Absolutely loves it. He's got MK8, Arms and Lego Undercover (though not played this yet). Both MK8 and Arms proved massive hits with the family members we had around for his birthday party.

Can Arms single player be made harder?

Phate I don't think you would be disappointed with arms it's great fun once you get used to the mechanics and the online parties are flawless

I think I'll wait and maybe get a 2nd hand copy down the line. For me I want BOTW (which I now have), MK8D, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey and other e-shop Nindies.

Maybe the slight bending is due to people hulking out when playing in hand-held mode. :)

Seriously though, I have been playing hand-held before and had to remind myself not to grip the joycons too hard or twist them, as I do wonder if there will be any long-term affects on them attaching to the Switch.

I heard the bending issue is due to the heat effect with the Switch being in the dock?
There is a Kickstarter for a Switch HDMI adaptor and one of the selling points is that you can connect your Switch without having it docked and subsequently heating up and potentially contorting.

Not true though

My 1st switch was bent straight away from new...my second one is perfectly straight and been played in dock over 100 hours or more with zero warping etc

Yeah the slight bend with some units is a manufacturing defect.

That Kickstarter sounds dodgy, especially if it's claiming the Switch being in the dock can cause it to bend...

Sure can, when you start a new Grand Prix you pick the difficulty (Level 1 - 7) after choosing a character. You can set the COM difficulty in VS mode too.

Do you have to rip apart your own dock?

I was disappointed to learn that America and Australia get more options for Joycon colours than we do. Currently, if anyone wants a pair of red or a pair of blue joycons, the only option is to buy a neon Switch (if you're lucky enough to even find one) and then buy the red/blue Joycon pair. That or get lucky and find someone who is wiling to trade one of their neon joycons to get a pair of matching colours. Whereas in America, you can just buy the red pair or the blue pair.

Nintendo always do this, they always screw over one region or another with hardware or software releases that don't come to other regions. Most common and obvious is Japan getting games that never come West, but there's been plenty of EU-exclusive or NA-exclusive stuff too. Looks to me like Nintendo hasn't changed one bit.

Unless... they turn around and also release those joycons over here too? Is it too much to ask to have a matching pair of coloured joycons (yellow is fine, but red/blue are more popular/desired colours)?

Some different colours for you. :)

Nintendo are releasing the dock as a standalone item and a number of third parties are doing them as well. You should be able to get a travel dock quite soon.

Really I thought Nintendo had patented it, so it was virtually impossible for 3rd parties to make docks That must've changed, or just been untrue

Or the companies that are doing it are chinese and don't give a ****.
