also, when gamernexus did their hybrid mod the viewer that donated their card said it was for deep learning /workstation use giving examples of why it was better than the 1080ti in this regard.
 
Yeah he said it's capable of gaming. But, while it has a gaming mode, he also said that gaming isn't it's focus and he advised that gamers wait for RX Vega.


simple really, rx vega will have better cooling (through aibs) so might get slightly higher clock speeds.

there's nothing different about rx vega physically, it's the same silicone with half the vram.

think of it like titan x (2016 version) vs 1080ti, cut down vram, same gpu but slightly better clocks due to better cooling.

It says Geforce GTX on it and it uses gaming drivers. NVidia can claim whatever they want, but those two points alone show it's a gaming card.

you realise the drivers don't matter for deep learning (where this card is targeted at) right?


also vega FE doesn't use pro certified drivers, so wouldn't be used in a professional environment.

so the fact vega FE had a gaming mode makes it a gaming card right?


when in truth, these prosumer cards do both just fine, the pro drivers don't effect gaming performance (as shown by how quadros and dualpros game just the same as their gaming counterparts)

All this deep learning stuff is just crap IMO.
All this none certified workstation card again just crap.

Just release workstation cards and gaming cards.
 
Nvidia have said multiple times the titan isn't a gaming gpu, infact they never market the titan as a gaming card which is why reviewers never get one, on the titan Xp page it mentions gaming one with "latest gaming technologies"

at no point is it marketed as a gaming card, Nvidia call it a deep learning card.

just as much as how raja commented on how the vega FE will deliver 4k gaming, and has shown it performing multiple gaming benchmarks (such as at computex)

again, vega FE is NOT a pro card,it lacks pro driver certifications, it lacks ECC memory.

it's a deep learning / prosumer card.

Again with the Titan's not a gaming card claim

Capable cooling will help with clocks a bit but if its drawing 300+ watts already then it is not going to do much. There will be something different going on inside the RX Vega if its faster, more affordable and with a lower and sensible power draw for the consumer market in achieving/maintaining higher clockspeeds.

It's a gaming card. It says Geforce GTX...

They advertise it as the ultimate gaming card and so on. No amount of mental gymnastics are going to change this.

The Vega FE is a mess by the looks of things.

That is still a card drawing over 300W of power (if the 375W watercooled FE is any indication of what is needed to reliably maintain peak clocks).
It has to be more than an AIB partner's custom cooler. Either a Vega respin with fixes to whatever is hampering the FE Vega or some change to the internal functioning of the chip to provide the required performance within a sane power envelope for the consumer.

Actually the 2016 Titans and 2017 Xps tend to clock slightly better than the 1080 Ti cards.

The memory on the Xps is also very good quality as even at stock it runs faster than most 1080 Ti cards.

I havnt seen any proof of this, my titan XPs didn't overclocked better than the 3 1080tis I've had.

my current Xp clocks 40mhz less than any of the 1080tis I've had.
