Because the drivers he is using are NOT old drivers, they are the most recent drivers, the ones on the AMD website (he just confirmed that, the best ones available from AMD) he was not talking about the crimson drivers within this driver package, which is what everyone is questioning...
Not sure what you mean?

LOL, Timespy performed less than a 1070.

this is just a distater for AMD. I know perofmrnace may be very differnet for RX Vega, but this is what AMD is wanting everyone to know right now. How many headlines will be cerated form PCper's results.

Agree with you ....AMD at there best again

so...if they manage to get 10% better performance from drivers.

and 10% from AIB cooling / overclocks.

it'll match an overclocked 1080? just with 120w+ more power draw, over a year late...and much more expensive for amd to produce?

GG amd....GG....

"poor volta" eh?

pcper have said it's "indicative of RX performance". He expects from zero to eight / ten per cent driver improvement for the RX.

By all "logic" and extrapolating from the past, that should be true , but then Vega should have logically had a better IPC than Fiji...

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

He's not wrong though. the scores are so bad it actually makes me think the gaming card will be way better.

If performance is roughly the same then amd have screwed up badly, getting 1070 performance which is essentially 980ti performance 2 years later is not something to be proud of.

Which could make or break, as 8-10% can be big on average, specially since the card seems to averaging a clock of 1440Mhz according to their log.

Pants reference cooler, but it looks nice.
Sorry, edited my post. He said zero to eight / ten per cent. So very little up to ten per cent.

This really is pathetic. Guess I'm keeping my Fury X for a good while longer LOL! I don't see gaming Vega being an extra 30% faster than this FE but we'll see :(

At least we have "official" reputable tests now.

Interesting AMD told Ryan that the FE Driver cannot be compared to the RX Vega one. So what's the performance delta between them! We need more jiggawats and info.

Which mean nothing for VEGA RX/gaming "final" performance.

Like I said before, it is so pointless basing vega RX on these results as the drivers are not final, the cards are the not same (and before anyone says, it is only different with the amount of memory, link please? I doubt that is the only difference and if it is then that just makes vega as a whole even more of a joke)

I still can't believe that on what is suppose to be a computer enthusiast forum, that so many people have little to no idea of how important driver/software optimisation is :o

pcper have said it's "indicative of RX performance". He expects from zero to eight / ten per cent driver improvement for the RX.

Does that guy know anything about coding drivers for GPUs or coding in general? Does he have experience in this field?

If not, then that is just his "guess" and not even an educated guess at that.....

He could very well be right but lets just wait and see what happens when the proper gaming card with the proper drivers come out.

Again, that's his guesstimate, means nothing until he has it in his hands.
Why do you expect the RX Vega drivers to be significiantly better. They have 1 month to optimize, when they have been developing the drivers for 9-12 months minimum, likely more.

I don't expect anything, i just prefer to wait and see rather than relying on guesstimates from reviewers.

More like hanging, drawing and quartering it all while having one arm tied behind its back!! :D

Tbf I feel AMD needed the hype-train derailing so allowed this shambles to proceed :p

I am struggling to keep watching....I am going console :) TBH i feel something is not right about this Vega FE launch
