if you have a frame latency line that's spiking up and down but averages out to 16,6ms vs a nicely tight line with only minor deviation that also averages 16,6ms then you are going to feel the difference.

True - to be fair I hadnt checked what AMD's latency and how shockingly poor it was under DX11 - though maybe they could spend some time working on that rather than just relying on a handful of games.

What is the motivation for coming on to a thread for a piece of hardware you are never going to buy and relentlessly ****posting?

Best to add those that threadcrap to your ignored list. I have many die hard nvidia supporters on my ignore list, it makes reading through this forum/thread far more enjoyable.

The great news is that we don't even see the posts from those that we ignore even if someone else quotes them, thanks to the updated forum software a few months back.

It's only been since about 2014 that we've been seeing AAA games that are dx11 only... That's like 5 years after DX11 release, before that they were 99% multi DX compatible (I think we got crisis 3 in 2013). DX12 adoption has gone way faster than I expected (considering the reluctance to Windows10), but all in all it's following about the same path as DX11 adoption, and that's normal, developers will wait for windows10 adoption to go up.

I was looking at frame rate over time graphs which is effectively the same thing, i didnt realise AMD's DX11 graphs were a complete mess, sorry.

frame rate over time is the same as considering fps, its an aggregation of data, you need to be looking at frame latency over time or per frame graphs.

Back to a oneupmanship contest I see. A bit of a boring read over the last 3 pages :(

It's not surprising. Vega is shown to have the most comprehensive dx12 support and filled in it's only weakness's compared to Nvidia by offering a higher level. You then get the dx12 doesn't matter crowd coming in. As you will know AMD have enjoyed decent low level support for years so it's bound to get a debate going against those who mainly have Nvidia and get a negative with it on.

It's really hilarious how a positive like extra support can be turned into a negative by some.

Haha I love that...

Yeah it's not like we get the other side coming in and saying about how the Nvidia cards are so much better because:

- best performance from day 1
- had the card for over a year
- lower power consumption
- cooler/quieter

Etc. Etc.

And who would buy Vega because of this?!?!

Even though nothing is confirmed for gaming Vega yet....

But when some good 'factual' news about Vega comes out that puts it even further ahead in an area where amd are already far stronger than nvidia, the Nvidia defense league lose their **** and grasp onto any straw to try and downplay it :D

Pretty much standard for this sub forum.

Yep, I used to post a lot in this forum, mainly replying to Nvidia fans who would troll AMD threads relentlessly. I found myself posting a lot less when they were added to ignore. I have no problem admitting I am a mainly AMD fan but will happily purchase Nvidia. Though it is no coincidence that most Nvidia threads are generally AMD troll free, AMD threads seem to attract a lot more trolls for some reason.

Yup still amazes me that amd threads are always way more popular than any Nvidia thread, even when multiple Nvidia threads are combined! :D

Says it all really ;)

Speaking of which, it has been a while since any amd are doooooomed threads have been created.....

Fair points. I just think Vega is taking an eon to release and people are bored and hence the twoing and froing. I would love to see some decent performance from Vega and would be more than happy to see it stomp on my 1080Ti in DX12 and DX11 in truth. The market does need a shakeup and it has been pretty much one way traffic with no high end for quite some time from AMD.

Think your 1080ti is going to be pretty safe. This looks like another fine wine card :D:D:D which ain't a bad thing but out of the box it would be a miracle if some how it can get to 1080ti level after seeing the FE reviews. The wait has been the longest i can ever remember which got even longer when the expected release was just the FE. I know a few who were ready for 1080/ti but had FS monitors so engaged even more patience.

Agreed but with Vulkan in Doom showing very well for AMD, you never know :D And I feel the pain of waiting and not something I am good at and would probably be sat in the corner sucking my thumb and rocking back and forth if I was waiting for Vega :D

Still, SIGGRAPH is 3 weeks (ish) away, so the wait will soon be over and anything above a 1080 with a decent price will be a winner and hopefully give RTG some needed R&D funds.

As long as I can get something thats a good amount faster than my 390X at 1440p and at a reasonable price, I am happy.

I mean the 390X itself isn't terrible at 1440p but it struggles sometimes and I want to minimise that.

The 1080 was perfect for me @ 1440P and let me run with pretty much all settings maxed, so 1080 or above will see you smiling in games :)

I really hope so! It's a 144Hz freesync monitor and would love to see it stretch it's legs in a demanding game. I have just bought parts for a new PC too, so bring on Vega!
