Im sitting here waiting patiently.... I plan to start going beyond 1080p gaming so the 480 will have to go. i silently have high hopes for vega. If it doesnt compete in both price and performance I may jump to team green which would be a shame. . .

I suspect that the FE is not fully representative of Vega's gaming ability (in more than just clockspeed) but based on various sets of assumptions you can speculate anywhere from 0% upwards. It doesn't seem worth investing effort and having expectations!

It looks like it but as I've said before it's very disrespectful to those that bought an FE if it turns out they've purposely held it back until after the RX releases, especially considering the price of the FE.

I disagree, people are responsible for their own decisions including spending their money in an effort to be first to own Vega silicon. They were advised to wait for the RX version if gaming was their pursuit and gamers were not directly targeted- regardless of whether someone extracts a dozen words from what is otherwise paragraphs of contextual text about FE's vague niche purpose.

hmmm with all the strange tests results on fe and things not going as they would ..
I'm thinking amd has done this on purpose ..I think we will see rx at 1700mhz well within 1080ti performance ..
just a feeling that nothing is as it should be ..

The whole situation with Vega has parallels with an episode of Bakeoff, contestants have a set time that need to get their creations ready by but if you take the dough out the oven before it's cooked you won't get bread. In this case AMD had launched Vega to meet that H1 deadline (lets face it when they say h1 that always meant end of June, it's a wonder why they didn't just say that in the first place) and now they will spend the next 12 months getting it ready while it's already out in the market place. It's repeat of their GNC release, AMD sadly just doesn't seem to have the manpower to get these things working from the get go.

Vega FE without a doubt will get a bios update as part of a newer driver package when RX Vega launches. Or sometime down the line when code is more stable.

Undoubtedly it will it's just a shame AMD just aren't able to get it's new product releases done without a whole host of bugs and unfinished software. With Ryzen they got away with it due to the tremendous value the Zen architecture brought it remains to be seen if they can pull it of with their video cards as well.

BTW congratulations! That was an impressive win over Raffa Nadel yesterday, a very entertaining match.

Another day another good result for the FE edition.

Edit He managed to keep the core 1600 in this video but temps are much higher. interesting
Thanks for watching, I decided to max out the fan speed and power limit to make sure all cards were performing at their max clock speeds.

Is it really a good result when it's just about holding off a 1080 in dx12? What would happen if you oc'd that 1080 or switched to dx11?

By the time RX vega gets here Volta will be within spitting distance and then it's game over.

The only good result I see is being able to turn down your radiators!

Hopefully the RX can add another few fps to that.

The Vega card seems to be using more GPU and CPU RAM than either of the NVidia cards.

Again I Don't Bloody Care about what Nvidia is bring out Lool so just shut up with replying to me about what nvidia is and isn't doing honestly!!!

I buy AMD I only care about my upgrade path is RX Vega going to be worth upgrading over R9 290 I sure would think so that is me happy.

This is AMDs break away from highend, navi will compete with Nvidia highend.
You have the Ti 1080 and TX enjoy them and ignore AMD you seem very much against AMD anyway so why you even in here?
Just to keep reminding us why Nvidia is so good and amd is so poor? Enough already

Exact same boat (r290), i dont care if another maker has a better card i need to keep freesync but i want better performance.

Well said, the NVIDIA v AMD is more pathetic than the Xbox v PlayStation. Isnt the PC community suppose to more on the mature side???

I'm still using a 290 too, havnt seen anything worth buying in the same price bracket that I like to buy in, £300. Though I think that speaks volumes of the stagnant GPU market, a four year old card keeps up with the newer GPU's from both vendors in the same price bracket, that in it's self is pretty poor

agreed
Am more than happy with AMD and how they approach the PC market I give them my money. This is a Vega thread I expect Vega information, not to be told how Good nvidia is I couldn't give a dam.
If I cared I would have bought nvidia last year by now.

this isn't a single vendor forum, so any time info gets posted about one of them it is obviously going to get compared in terms of absolute performance as well as price/performance to some

repeatedly posting about how you don't want to read it isn't actually going to stop anyone from posting on an open forum

Raw nerve, sorry!

You compared it to Nvidia (yes?) you posted a vs video (yes?) I'm just offering a differing viewpoint!
