No re-badged as in putting your own name on.

Ah I get ya, but already posted why they cant use the Frontier Edition to do that.

It would, but Raja confirmed that Vega RX tops out at 8GB HBM2, so cannot just reuse the Frontier Edition.
At most they use the overkilled PCB the FE has for the XTX, which would be good as Buildzoid was extremely impressed by how well it was made.

Hoping the extra bit of power saved with 50% HBM means a extra clocks, and the AIO keeping them stable at peak frequency.

The equivalent 1070 is £469 today but they've taken a bit of an increase due to miners so calling it £420 is reasonable, I've considered buying a 1070 several times in the last year and don't recall them going under 400, The odd fan blower model might of though, Even if you call it £400 it still means the 970's replacement has increased by £140 or more. On release we got a Founders tax for what was meant to be a superior blower model with promises of aftermarket models being available for cheaper. The only preorder models I recall seeing as cheaper are the EVGA ACX card which did not turn up until long after release and proved to be defective, Plus pricing shot up and then only really dropped back once the ICX was on route and they wanted to get rid of the ACX stock. Hold on this is a Vega thread? To sum up Nvidia suck for what they pulled with Pascal and it's the sort of suckage that'll put Dyson to shame.
Yeah I would have bought a 1070 by now if it was priced the same as the 970. The price jumps across the whole range are pure greed on nV's part.

(and they were released at those prices before Brexit, in case anyone is thinking that :p)

Welp so no Vega for me after all. Only have a Seasonic 650W golḍ rated PSU. Guess its time to wait for Volta.
Yeah Vega is only for people who...
want the best at any price
want the best value for money

want the top-end AMD card regardless of whether the cost of replacing their PSU outweighs the saving from not buying nV :p

So yeah... VEGA is for people who are allergic to green, I think.

Agree pure greed...

but it maybe that Nvidia where bitter about peeps finding out about the things they where trying to hide with the 970 and the ruckus it caused them and for that they thought right if you want what is exactly written on the tin its going to cost you EXTRA... :p

Sadly people just keep on buying :( I was fortunate and got a 1070 at slightly closer to sane prices - if it hadn't been for one of Gibbo's special deals I probably wouldn't have bought one.

Annoyingly I've got a real itch to upgrade my GPU at the moment for some reason even though the 1070 handles pretty much everything fine - partly because most of my previous GPUs have been more interesting versions like the 780GHz and this is just a plain Palit dual fan :s

Eh, I've had a 750 W PSU for 8 years and never used anywhere near its potential so I won't need to upgrade, thankfully. Even a new PSU would be far cheaper than the G-Sync tax. I am concerned about the heat output of Vega though.

I was really meaning the GPU portion and there are still rumours circulating that there'll be a 16GB version of the RX......maybe.

It'll be interesting to see how the newly released FE with an AIO performs in comparison to the air cooled version. It might give some pointers towards the RX version.

Ah I get ya,

I was definitely NOT trying to start a flamewar by asking if the Vega XTX was a re-badged Fury X :D

Mass production by late August!!!!
Why is RTG trying to be suicidal? stretching a release like that.. preposterous that.
Just launch it with half-baked drivers for gods sake

Brought to you by the same people that also brought these.

That's the custom cards.

Don't know if they've changed the article but they're saying that mass production "could be as soon as early September". Could be talking mid September for actual purchasing if that's the case.

Why would you want to overclock a workstation card? Especially if it can only do an extra 100mhz on the core. Would you not want rock solid stability for that sort of stuff? Seems like a strange product to release.
Because it's not just a workstation card...........

Goes away and hides :p
