Hot hatch recommendations - £20k

Wow, only took 19 posts before someone replied with something totally out of context :P

E90 M3 - Awesome choice, however it has M3 running costs and the E90 is far from the best BMW platform, even in M guises
Focus RS Mk2 - It's a very old Focus, again not the nicest place to be for a daily driver

I think the M135i just keeps coming back as what everyone is recommending, and whilst it might not have as much kit as my other options, I believe it's the better car

I dunno, the MK2 RS isn't bad. I used to daily drive a MK2 ST and it's pretty much the same inside. It also won't loose it's value and is unlikely to go wrong, unlike other suggestions.

Cos its a 13 year old Ford? Am i right?

I just did a carwow for a Peugeot 308 GTI 270. Got a quote back for £20,135 with a paint option. List price is over £29k.

But then you have a 308 which has the most dull exterior design of any of the recent hatchbacks (bar a golf).

I really, really like my Focus St - but I paid almost half your budget and specifically wanted a smallish estate that still had a bit of power

For £20k and without the additional practicality requirements I couldn't look beyond a 135i. The engine is wonderful and a real cut above the Ford, the auto is great for a daily driver and the interior is decent for a small car too. There really isn't much to mark it down against similarly sized cars.

135i does seem like the obvious choice..

A45 is out of the budget

S3/golf R are a no no

Rs is old
MPS is old

Don't want a coupe/saloon either so yeah, 135 imo is the car.

Can you get second hand m140i for 20K ?

Sure I seen posts for deals on brand new ones going for around 25k so surely second hand ones most be around 20k

You can get a new, 3dr, manual base spec M140i for £27k, start putting options on this and it soon mounts up even if it's just 5dr, auto and pro nav
